2nd Floor Common Room - Starting Late Afternoon - PARTY!

Logan had hooked up his gamestation to the flatscreen TV and was playing a videogame involving a lot of women in bikinis bouncing up and down. He was drinking a non-descript beverage from a plastic cup, and anyone within two feet of him would notice the odor of tequila wafting off him.

A couple of coolers with beverages (all non-alcoholic) were set up around the room, and bags of chips and other snack foods were laid out on the table.

"I just got back from Studio Art. We had to paint something called a fresco. You paint on a wet wall, but anyway. Our group got very into it," she replies.

"Yeah," he says, eyeing the paint splatters. "No kidding. What'd you do, become one with the fresco?"

Kara takes a sip and says, "Ah.. something like that."

"It's like, extreme art or something." Anders snickers and sips at his own root beer. "I must be missing out on the fun. My classes this semester aren't super exciting so far. Like Driver's Ed? That could be fun once we get around to, you know, actual driving. But we haven't yet."

"Yeah, it's a nice way to end the week." Kara is silent while she works on peeling the label on her bottle. "I was wondering if I could ask you something," she says after a minute.

"Sure," replies Anders cautiously. "What's up?"

"Don't sound so concerned, it's nothing bad. Just a favour, I guess." She takes a sip of her root beer before continuing. "I haven't really been doing the work I need to on my knee, get busy and forget, so I was wondering if you'd be my gym partner," she says quickly. "I know it sounds cheesy and don't feel like you have to. You know, whatever."

"You serious?" Anders sits up, looking surprised and pleased. "Of course I'll do it, Thrace, you crazy? Hope you don't mind if I sort of play trainer for a little while, though. Gotta take it easy until these frakking ribs heal up."

A relieved smile passes across Kara's face and she relaxes. "Ah, any excuse to slack off." She grins and gives him a wink.

Anders snickers into his root beer. "Don't rub it in, Thrace. I'm going stir-crazy not being able to do anything. No upper body movements 'cause they strain my ribs, no exerting myself 'cause of my head -- it's driving me nuts."

Kara pats him on the head. "Poor, Samuel."

"Hey." Anders glowers playfully, which with his now extra-tousled hair makes him look like a petulant puppy. "I have, like, no way to burn off energy, if you know what I mean, okay?"

With a wicked grin, Kara leans close and says in a low voice, "There's always the 'do it yourself' method."

Anders's mouth drops open. "Yeah, 'cause that's so much fun with Cally sleeping right next to me every night. Besides, she might kick my ass."

"Hey... she might like to watch. Or help!" She smacks him on the arm and says, "Don't give up hope."

Anders turns bright red. "Article 23. That's all I'm sayin'."

Kara breaks out laughing. "Probably best. I'm gonna get another drink. You want?"

"That'd be awesome," he says, looking sadly at his empty root beer. "Could you?"

"I'll be right back," says Kara and she turns to walk over to the snack table. After a minute, she returns with two fresh bottles of root beer and a bag of pretzels. "Figured we could use something to snack on, too."

"Good thinking, Thrace. Thanks. Junk food," he says with an exaggerated sigh as he reaches over and rips open the bag, grabbing a handful of pretzels. "You know, once upon a time I had a healthy diet."

"Oh, get over it," Kara scoffs and happily digs into the pretzels.

"Please. Do you see me complaining?" Anders shakes a pretzel at her and crunches into it noisily. "Who keeps this entire floor supplied with half its junk food most of the time, anyway?"

"We have zombies, snow monsters, and common rooms that are always filled with junk food. It's part of the charm."

"Funny how we say that so casually, huh?" He laughs, breaks off a piece of pretzel, and tosses it up in the air so he can catch it in his mouth.

Kara snags it out of the air and puts it in her own mouth with a smirk.
