2nd Floor Common Room - Evening

Parker really didn't get much done today. She's watching the DVD of Midsummer Night's Dream -- the one with Kevin Kline and Callista Flockhart -- and making mental notes of what *not* to do as Queen of the Fairies.

She's also hoping to run into some people, so she can get some answers about what's been happening while she was in England.

Rory rolled her eyes. "I like the Bridge 'n Anders show!"

"Yes, I seem to be in the minority as far as opinions on that go. I found you to be much more refined, however."

"Yeah, well...I also was calling from London. Being refined comes with the territory."

"Only if you're not used to it. Although modern London is most likely a far cry from the London I knew." Archie's expression grew a bit pensive. "You wouldn't happen to have photographs, would you?"

"My camera's in my room," Rory apologized. "But I have these."

She pulled out her phone, and flipped to the pictures she had taken on the Eye. "That's from this enormous ferris wheel. London at night."

Archie squinted a bit at the small pictures. "Oh my God, the lights. It's so bright now! You said there's an enormous -- what?"

"A ferris wheel. It's...hmm. It's a giant wheel with little...sort of buckets of people on it." Rory made a big circle in the air with her hand. "And you get to have a lovely view."

"The view is spectacular, if those pictures are any indication," admitted Archie, his voice faltering a little bit. "But a giant wheel . . . I can't even imagine that. Where on earth do you put such a thing?"

"It's on the south bank of the Thames," Rory offered. "Across from Big Ben."

Archie closed his eyes for a moment and tried to picture this in his mind. It didn't go very well. "Oh my God," he groaned and buried his face in his hands.

Rory blinked. "It's not tacky."

"It's not that. I just can't picture it," Archie said quietly. "It's almost as though I'm not seeing London at all. It's a beautiful city. A beautiful modern city. It's just not familiar to me at all."

"Surely some things look familiar," Rory said practically. "We just have some additions."

"Oh, I recognize Big Ben, and many of the landmarks," conceded Archie. "But all I have to compare with is my visual memory. No photographs, and all. It's jarring."

He sighed. "I imagine the rest of the country would be quite different from what I remember."

"Probably. We went out to Stonehenge. Bet that hasn't changed," Rory said, switching the picture on her phone to one of the site in question.

Archie laughed and leaned over to examine the picture. "I always wanted to see it myself, and never had the chance. Though it certainly doesn't look like it's changed."

"I got to touch the stones," Rory said proudly.

"I envy you," Archie told her sincerely. Then, "I wonder if there's a career to be had in professional tourism?"

"You could be a hotel or restaurant critic," Rory suggested.

"Now there's a thought," he noted idly. "Not my first choice, but one to keep in mind, certainly. It would be a decadent lifestyle, that's for certain!"
