Peter was sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn in front of him and a box of cookies from J. GOB.  He'd found some Coca-Cola (and still couldn't get over the fact it came in cans now) and was flipping through the channels on the TV.

Oooh, war movie.  That looked interesting.  The planes looked familiar too.  Peter sat forward in his seat as the title rolled.  Rescuing Corproral Smith?  Did they make movies about World War II now?

Peter blinked at the flow of information, "Pleasure to meet you, Willow. I'm Peter Pevensie. And I'm British, but I've only watched American TV so far. Is British TV much different?"

"Depends on who you ask," Willow said. "Some say the quality is much, much better than anything American TV could produce which is why American TV shouldn't even try to compare. Others say it doesn't matter how many quality shows show up on PBS, everyone is going to remember Benny Hill for as long as they live. But I do think we can all agree on a middle ground involving accents."

"As a Brit, I feel I ought to fall on my country's side of the debate even without watching any of it. But after watching Bitterwoman and this movie," he gestured to the TV set where the intrepid heroes were trailing their missing man through the French countryside. "I have to say that American TV might just have me hooked."

"Oh, Bitterwoman's the best," Willow assured him. "I watched it all the time when I was younger. I even had the Underroos!"

"Underoos? Like a pet or something?"

"No, more like under - um, yes, a pet. Kinda. In a not really sense of the - so what are we watching?"

Peter remained unenlightened to the function of an Underoo as he said "it's called Rescuing Corporal Smith. Something about a squad of Yanks trying to rescue one of their men after the big invasion of France."

"Oo," Willow said. "On the one hand: cute actors. On the other: many body parts. Don't mind me if I hide behind my fingers sometimes, okay?"

"I certainly would never hold it against you, but if the hiding behind the fingers starts to outweigh the appeal of the cute actors, the channel changing thing is yours."

"It's a deal," Willow said. Catching the roundabout way he'd referred to a remote, she asked, "So are you one of the people that TV is new for?"

Peter smiled ruefully. "And I thought I was doing so well with the fitting in."

"Oh no, it's okay!" she assured him. "It's just that I've met a guy who's not that far past fire on the entertainment scale, so I'm kinda vigilant for anybody who might need a hand with some really severe culture shock. So are you? Shocked?"

"Only at the general prettiness of the ladies at the school," Peter said with a wink and grin. "I'm from about 1940 - so the lack of a telephone operator and the TV have been big so far. I'm avoiding everything else that's changed until I catch up on the history I've missed."

Willow blushed at the compliment. "What about snack foods? There's an entire world of foods that are absolutely horrible for you that I'm sure we could introduce you to. Pop Rock technology has advanced by leaps and bounds in the past few years alone."

"There have been developments in snackfoods beyond biscuits and chocolate and Turkish Delight? Be still my heart."

"Oh yes," Willow said. "In fact the sweet, chocolate, and salty groups have now been joined by sour, nacho, and ranch flavor. It's a whole revolution."

"Seriously, this is the best revolution, I've ever heard of," Peter said with enthusiasm. "I get sour, but nacho and ranch? I think those are going to have to be tried to be understood fully. Would you guide me so I don't wash up on the rocky shoals of the land of horrificly putrid?"

"I'd be glad to," Willow said. "And not just because you correctly used words like 'shoals' and 'putrid' in a sentence. The same one even!"

Peter blushed slightly. "Err, well, can I use British as an excuse?"

"No excuse needed!" she assured him. "Normally I'm used to people who get scared at the bigger words, let alone using them."

"In that case, I'll embrace my polysyllabic words AND the junk food fiesta," Peter said, smiling.

Willow pretended to fan herself, smiling. "Oo - be still my heart."

Peter laughed, "Now you're mocking me, a stranger displaced in time."

"Wasn't! Honest!" Willow said. "I don't mean to be mocky. Usually I'm the one being mocked for the books and the clothes and the books. More a mock-ee than -er."

Peter looked properly repentant. "I'm sorry, that was me teasing you. But certainly never for books or clothes. Only because I think you're very sweet."
