Sunday Evening - Fifth Floor Common Room

Peter was sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn in front of him and a box of cookies from J. GOB.  He'd found some Coca-Cola (and still couldn't get over the fact it came in cans now) and was flipping through the channels on the TV.

Oooh, war movie.  That looked interesting.  The planes looked familiar too.  Peter sat forward in his seat as the title rolled.  Rescuing Corproral Smith?  Did they make movies about World War II now?

Jamie walks into the CR and gives everyone a wave and a grin.

"Greeting fellow fifth floor people. And others!"

Peter waved back (he'd given up on bowing after the fifth or sixth person). "Good evening, fellow fifth floor person! Have we met yet?"

"No but I believe I know you by reputation. 'English Peter'? Right. I'm Jamie Madrox. Nice to meet you. What's on the old telly?"

"Hopefully the reputation is mostly good as I'm English Peter. Nice to meet you too, Jamie," Peter grinned. "It's Rescuing Corporal Smith - the Yanks are trying to find one of their men after the big invasion of France."

"Ah. A classic and morbid little film," Jamie said putting his feet up on the coffee table. "And so far I only know your reputation via radio. As far as I can tell? You've met lots of people."

"It's a classic? It looks so real," Peter remarked. "Have a biscuit? Ah, good. As long as no one thinks I'm the Peter who was exposing himself to ladies in the hallway."

"Nah. I met that guy the other day at the meet and greet," Jamie chuckled. "No way in hell he could pull off an English accent."

"He may try though. Or try to try. He was telling me he wanted an accent 'to help get the ladies' the other day," Peter grimaced.

"It's going to take more than an accent to do that," Jamie said with a chuckle.

"Jamie!" Willow waved. "We can go on other floors! It's okay! Xander said so!"

"Hey Willow!" Jamie said waving back. "Good to know that we don't need a cover story next time. How've you been?"

"I met one of the teachers," Willow said. "He's very tall and wears a blue costume that looks like a tick. If ticks were very tall and blue and wore costumes."

"Really? Which one is he?" Jamie said slightly puzzled. "And why does he wear a costume?"

"He's called Professor The Tick," Willow said. "I'm assuming it's a leitmotif."

"A what?" Jamie asked dumbly. "Sorry. Big words. No understand."

He grunted the last bit like he was a caveman.

"A theme," she clarified. "Either that or a fondness for blue combined with very specific sewing skills."

"Well blue is a good color for costumes," Jamie said with a nod. "It can be very patriotic."

"Depends on what country you're from," Willow pointed out. "If you're from China, not so much. Unless your name is Opposite Man."

Jamie considered something for a second. "I don't think Opposite Man would make a good moniker but I like the concept."

"True," Willow said. "Because for starters everybody would wonder if you were a bad guy only pretending to be good. Plus there might even be people who wondered if the 'man' part was an opposite too, though I guess that'd be moot depending on the type of costume you wore and what material it was made out of."

"Plus if he were a hero and a crime happened he would have to do the opposite of a hero and not stop the crime but go have a mocha latte at the local coffee shop," Jamie agreed. "So do you have like... superheroes where you are from?

"Not with costume and cape and helpful identifying symbols on their chest," Willow said, not sure if it was safe to tell Jamie about things like Slayers. "For those we're stuck with comics and TV. Though Xander sometimes gets pouty when I say that instead of graphic novels."

"Ah," Jamie said with understanding. "So we're talking the average good role model kind of hero but not the kind with weird powers or anything."

"My hero is my bestest female friend," Willow confirmed, which had the nice bonus of being true and yet still omitting a lot of detail.

"So what do you think of all the weird stuff that people can do around here?" Jamie asked with a somewhat concerned look on his face.
