Camp gym (Salle)- Thursday before classes

While it would be nice to have a summer without worrying whether or not any relatives would be listening to the radio and not feeling checked up on, Jaina also realized that she was losing the two people who helped her with her lightsaber training, too. This was definitely a downside, and she new that it just meant she was going to have to make it a point of getting down here more and practicing herself. She thought she might get a lecture if she was all rusty come fall, after all.

Making sure to stick a note on the door to give warning that there was someone back here with a nice live weapon that was known for chopping off limbs, she set up three remotes to start firing, and ignoted her lightsaber to start deflecting the bolts that were going to be coming at her at pretty high speeds.


[Yes I did have to go into old posts to make sure the salle was there. Open, as I have a couple hours before work still, but then it'll be SP till this evening PST. Fair warning.]

"It's better to be surprised now than surprised later," Luke said, smiling.

If that came from Anakin, she'd put up a fight. With Luke, she took it more seriously. Blame years and years of him laying the teaching groundwork. "Good point," she said, bringing her blade back up into defense position. She knew she couldn't beat him, but she was wondering whether he'd tire out enough for her to put up a real fight.

Luke had a lot of excess energy--a problem with having not a lot to do--but he wasn't really out for a knock-down drag-out sparring session.

He slowed down a little bit and waited for Jaina to go on the offensive.

Slowing down too much would bore Jaina, no matter what her tactic was. And if he wasn't going to move, it meant it didn't take long before she brought her blade down, swinging towards his side with a controlled movement.

Luke moved his lightsaber to counter just a heartbeat before there would have been an embarrassing loss of skin, smiling at the crackle of the two weapons against each other.

"No smiling, this is serious," Jaina chided, despite the fact that she was smiling herself in response, moving her blade farther down against his to try and add more leverage, hoping to force his hands away.

"Very serious business," Luke teased gently, pushing back against her blade.

She tilted the tip of her blade downwards, not nearly enough to be dangerous but enough that he might feel some extra heat.

Luke nodded approvingly, then added a Force push to the power in his arms to push hard against the blade, trying to disengage and get to a better position.

It was just enough to put a weird enough strain on her arms that she didn't want to stay in that position any longer than she had to. She quickly drew back, rotating her wrist once she'd gotten into a better position just to release some of said strain, and because that looked sort of cool when you had a big glowy sword in your hand.

Luke grinned at her, guessing both reasons for the move, then charged at her, lightsaber aimed at her neck.

Moving quickly, she swung to block, using extra force to try to knock him away as she wanted to keep her head.

Luke used the extra push to tuck into a flip and bounce away.

"Nice," she said honestly. She was good at that sort of thing, but he had always been better- shockingly, of course. She took a step forward, seeing whether he was going to attack first or force her to.

Luke grinned. "It stopped me from ending up in a couple pieces on the Death Star," he said, "so I practice it a lot."

"I just always thought it was fun," Jaina said with a little grin.

"That too," Luke admitted. "Certainly better than getting shot in the ass by remotes."

"Or your legs sliced off," she said, since that's where she usually employed the move.

"That is definitely not on the agenda," Luke said, just before slicing down towards her leg.

Not wanting to be too predictable, she stepped back out of the way of the blade, lifting one leg up to kick his side.

The leg caught Luke squarely in the side and he tumbled over, turning the fall into in a controlled roll a second later, then came up with his 'saber in hand. He'd been surprised.

Jaina was just happy it worked, especially against him. While he was getting back to his feet, she was getting back into a good position to handle the attack she was sure was coming.

Luke paused only to blow his hair out of his eyes before charging at her again.

She brought her lightsaber up, trying to block him straight off. Not that she didn't have it coming.

The two weapons clashed with a distinctive crackle, and Luke settled himself into a comfortable sparring rhythm, waiting to see how long it would take Jaina to change their tempo.
