Third Floor Common Room - Saturday Morning

Claire was still in an excellent mood after her conversation with Jon last night. She decided to pass on the trip into the city and instead headed for the common room to make breakfast in an effort to meet some new people.

Anyone making their way past the room would be welcome to enjoy some pancakes with blueberry topping, strawberry topping and/or whipped cream. Because, yes, Claire was kind of a dork and went the red, white and blue route.

There was an appropriate holiday movie on the television.

Elle didn't know what to do. It was a holiday, but she didn't care.

So she was roaming the common rooms.

Which was how she found the food. "Ooh, that smells good."

"Elle! Hi!" There was a cheerful wave from the perky one.

Elle resisted the urge to personally tase Ell. No shocking your perky new friend. It's just not nice.

"Hi," she managed, stifling a yawn.

No, because Elle would probably pee on herself and that would be traumatizing in front of everyone omigod.

"Did you get settled in yet? I'm still working on that myself. Super tons of luggage."

"Didn't have much, so I'm pretty much set already," Elle said with a shrug.

Oh. Elle number 2 was not a morning person. That was super easy to see. "Bruiser missed you. Go say hi Bruiser." Elle was being helpful this morning. Bruiser trotted over to Elle number 2 and blinked cute adorable eyes up at her.

Elle resisted the startled urge to punt Bruiser across the room. Once she realized that he was just going to sit there and not try jumping on her or anything else, she grinned. "Aww, he's adorable! Can I pick him up?"

"Sure you can! He loves making friends and being held and cuddled with. He's friendly so you don't have to worry about him chewing fingers. He's totally well-behaved."

Well, that was good. Elle happily reached down and scooped up the little dog.

"So what room are you in and who's your roommate? I hope someone fun?"

Elle shrugged. "530. Her name's Jean Grey. She's... okay."

Which was damn near a rousing endorsement from Elle.

"Give it time. You just got here right? That okay just might turn into wow, she's super sweet." Elle believed the best in people.

"Well... she's not too bad, I guess," Elle said doubtfully. "She's not a bitch, so I can live."

Claire smiled. "Thanks, feel free to help yourself."

Elle promptly took a plate and started filling it. "I'm Elle."

Two Elles. Both blonde. This one seemed less perky though.

"I'm Claire. Nice to meet you."

Oh, Claire. If you only knew.

"You do all this yourself?" Elle asked, as she debated between the blueberries and the strawberries.

"Yeah, pancakes are easy," Claire said. "You know, you could have both," she added, noticing Elle's apparent dilemma.

"Even better," Elle said with a cheerful smile as she plopped both on top of her pancakes.

"So where are you from, Elle?" Claire asked.

"Ohio," Elle said, suddenly very much focused on drowning her pancakes in syrup. "Well, originally. We moved a couple times."

Claire nodded. "I'm from Texas, but my family moved to California before I came here."

"It sucked," was Elle's succinct opinion.

"I agree with you there," Claire said. "Of course, then my dad decided to send me here."

"Same here, pretty much," Elle said. "Dads are stupid, I think."
