The deck, Saturday afternoon

Dinah got back from her coffee chat of GREAT JUSTICE! with Daisy to find that the deck? Was decorated with streamers, balloons, glitter, noisemakers, hats, and wow, flowers.

So a keyed-up Canary was currently batting a balloon around like she was still a cat, and considering ordering a cake to go with all this stuff, wondering whose birthday it was.

Wow, the deck sure was cheerful today. It kind of reminded Jak of Sandover, even if the flowers were a little much-- no, okay, the flowers were nice, too.

So it was a cheerful, dedicated looking Jak who padded onto the deck, grinning, and coming to a stop as soon as he saw Dinah.

Dinah batted the balloon above her head again, then saw Jak, and grinned. "Hey! Look at all this. Have you heard, is someone having a birthday party?" She batted a balloon over to him, then floated a hat over with TK. "Have one!"

Leda took note of the ears. "Hey are you an Elf too?"

"Who's having a party?" Claire asked, wandering out on the deck with a glass of iced tea.

"No idea. You haven't heard?" Dinah threw a silvery-glitter-filled balloon at her roommate, and grinned. "I keep waiting for someone to show up and kick us off the deck. But not so far."

"Hi Clair." Leda waved. "Where's that boyfriend of yours? Haven't seen him around lately."

"This is better than the syrup," Mat announced to the deck at large, "but I never thought I'd bloody miss the weather at home. What are we supposed to be celebrating?"

"No idea!" Another new cute guy! Dinah waved, and then batted a balloon at him. "It was just here. I think we should hijack it."

"I have no idea," Helen said. "And just about anything is better than rains of syrup."

"Much better," Azula agreed, she glanced at him, "I think you and I share a class."

One could only write stories about bitchy princesses for so long. Eventually, Cal felt the need to do something else. Now, he wasn't about to go put flowers in his hair or anything like that. That was just a bit more hippie than he was willing to go. But he did have a few tucked into the breast pocket of his jacket, if only so he could do things like what he did now. Take one out as he passed and offered one out.

"Dinah," he said. "You're in bouncy spirits as usual, I see."

"Thank you!" Smoooooth, yup. Dinah twirled the flower between her fingers before putting it in her hair, because hey. Girl. She could do that. "And yeah, I just had several coffees and talked Justice with Detective Constable Day. I'm still buzzed. How are you settling back in?"

Helen had been a bit baffled by all the flowers and such everywhere. When she saw the Deck had been equally decorated she had to wonder.

"Is there some sort of celebration going on?"

Back from getting cupcakes at J,GoB, Dinah could only shrug and smile. "I have nooooo idea. Nicer than syrup rain though, right?" She grinned, and floated a hat in the air, making it dance. "Want a party hat?"

"... Wow." Chuck had thought maybe the party theme would have worn off when he left the dorms. Apparently not. "Is there some occasion I don't know about today?"

"We're calling it Spontaneous Fun day, 'cause we have no idea," Dinah said, grinning at the new kid. "Welcome to Fandom, where things just show up!"

Ellie decided it was a nice day to hang out on the deck, though there was slight confusion when she noticed all the decorations. "Is there a party?"

"Kind of?" Dinah grinned. "Have a cupcake! We're celebrating glitter and balloons!" She waves a noisemaker at Ellie. "I'm Dinah, how new are you?"

"Maybe?" Dinah really really appreciated that. Especially after yesterday. "They were just here. Jak and I brought in the cupcakes. If someone's having a party, there's no name on the goodies." She grinned a little. "Have one."

As is right and proper for a Saturday, Leda had just gotten up.

"Ooh, what's the occasion?"

"Today is the birthday of the Great Purple People Eater," Dinah said gravely. Hey, she'd gotten sick of saying "no clue." "And since he ate the Snufflupagus all up for us, we celebrate every year that we're not rabbit food. Have a cupcake."

"Sibling! Haven't seen you for ages!" he called out to her. Okay, so it'd been a few days, maybe a week or so.
