Summer's New Years Party; Second Floor Common Room; Sunday Night [12/31].
So, Summer had planned to go out for decorating for her New Years party, but Summer underestimated Summer's own laziness, and anyone coming in the room could clearly see where she started with all the streamers and glitter and balloons and where she started to just lose interest and get bored and just kind of said 'fuck it.' It really didn't help that it turned out her name for the party was too long even for the banner, so there hung over the food table something that just simply read: "New Years Party All Night Because Who Even Cares Tha"
Which seemed appropriate enough.
She didn't get lazy about the food, though, and she definitely didn't get lazy about the drinks, so there was that. And so now she just had to hope everyone got the invitation in some way or another and that they'd show up but people here were weird about parties. But, hey, she'd take partying by herself if it came down to it over sitting in her room by herself on New Years Eve.

Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
"When I could," Norman replied. "When they wanted me to, and sometimes when there was no choice, whether they wanted me to or not."
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
Unless there were ghosts here, but Breq felt she should have noticed them by now if there were.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
There were ghosts everywhere. They weren't always human. There weren't even necessarily very many. But where death happened, ghosts often did.
Granted, most of them were monsters that had been killed in invasions.
"I miss some. I made a lot of friends back home, too."
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
"Did you choose to come here?"
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
"I did," Norman replied, smiling a little. "My grandma thought it would be good for me. So far, I don't think she's wrong."
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
"Mostly, it's been weird animals," Norman replied with a shrug. "Dinosaurs, some slug things. Sharks? The sharks are weird."
But at least you knew he wasn't making it up that way?
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
So, he could see ghosts everywhere.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
"A big ring of them, yeah," Norman confirmed. "They seem less resigned to being dead than most of the other ghosts, though. I think they're newer."
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
They hadn't been friendly, after all.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
Norman shook his head a little.
"They can try," he replied, "but they aren't strong ghosts. They're just sort of... there."
It made for an interesting walk around town, though.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
Norman nodded a little.
"That's what I've heard. Lots of ghosts, but every invasion they came from is long gone, now."
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
"A lot of really, really weird things have died pretty suddenly," Norman agreed. "Giant bunnies?"
So strange.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
Even for someone who was used to ghosts, those on the island might be disturbing. Many of them had been disturbing when they were alive.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
Norman gave his shoulders a shrug.
"They're just one more thing on a long list of things here I need to get used to," Norman decided. "I'll cope."
He was good at that.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
She added a smile, because she really meant it.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
"Better than I could be," Norman replied with a shrug. "I've been coping for a long time. If I have too many troubles here... I'll figure something out."
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
"Sounds like you're better prepared than most, then."
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
"I think I will get some food now," she said. "I'm not quite sure about that gelatinous thing, but maybe it will surprise me."
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
He smiled a little, and then added, "It was nice to meet you, Breq."
Re: Arrive and Mingle - 12/31.
She liked Sidon, but sometimes answers could be short.
"And let me know if you remember more songs that you want to share." She smiled.
