It was maybe a bit late that Summer was getting to handing out her invitations for Sunday's party, but she was still way more on top of this one than she had been on some of the others. Each one was uniquely cut into various moddable shapes with their own glitter and swirl patterns, but the message was pretty much the same:

THE VERY LAST SUMMER SMITH PARTY*!

SUNDAY NIGHT . THE PRESERVE

Food. Drinks. Bonfire.

Sayonara, Class of 2018!

*As an FH Student, duh. See Summer Smith, room 204, for questions or details.

She took her time going around with them, hoping to catch people in opened doors or on their way places, because a personal invite was, like, so much better, but, in the meantime, every door was getting an invitation or two slipped underneath for their residents to find, an act she was mindful enough to cherish, because she highly doubted she'd do something like this again.

With no classes this week, Breq was catching up on the long list of music she had downloaded to her phone. It didn't hold quite as many songs as she would have liked, and she missed her own archive, but it was definitely handy.

Having found some speakers to connect it to, she set her playlist to random and pulled up the volume. Sadly for people around, she wasn't the best judge on what would be considered too loud in a common room. Leaning back on the couch, she closed her eyes, taking in only the music.

[Open! Breq's playlist is moddable and very random.]

Rey had skirted through most of her time at Fandom without any other problems aside from the occasional invasion, and that deep-seated anxiety that she’d been here too long and completely missed her family, not that she ever said that part out loud. Now, on a related note, with graduation coming up, she had no idea if anything was going to change now. She wasn’t sure if she’d be able to get home now, and what exactly she was going to do if she couldn’t, and if she could, what kind of situation would she be walking into?

There was also that other thing, which she didn’t really think about because obviously it was wrong.

She’d camped out on the sofa in the common room, and was currently scrolling through the Portalocity app, just checking to see if she could find anything that would get her home. Sure, it had never worked before, but maybe this time.

Things were definitely a lot quieter with her little cannibal hellion gone, and Summer liked that, but what she didn't like was that the quiet had her mind wandering in the direction of Hematemisis's apparent father and how he might be doing, and when you're sitting there thinking about texting your grampa to get the dimension info to take on over to the Portalocity office, you were headed for bad things. But she had to wonder...how was he doing? Was he even still alive? How had he fared in a post-Rick post-Apocalypse? It wasn't like she was doing anythi--

--nope. Not going to even go there. As an attempt to keep herself away from distractions, Summer actually turned off her phone and put it in a drawer and left her room before she started in on something really, really dumb. She went to the common room, grabbed some popcorn to throw in the microwave, and when that was ready, plopped on the couch and started flipping through channels to find something else to keep her dumb head occupied.

But of course nearly every station seemed to be playing something romantic or some end-of-the-world action flick. She shook her head, glaring at the screen. "I swear, you do this on purpose, don't you?"

Ugh, what was going on today? Even after taking most of the morning to..uh...take care of things (and now feeling very, very, very grateful to not have a roommate for the first time since Shiemi left), Summer was still feeling all restless and riled up. Was this a weird after-effect of having blown herself up to gigantic proportions, turned literally inside out, and then put back to normal again? Was it some kind of radiation totally messing up with her system now? Maybe she should probably think a little bit before randomly exposing herself to powerful body-altering machines on a whim, because, man, it was crazy in there right now. Hormone city. Probably just her cells trying to regulate themselves again and doing a really craptastic job of it...

Boy, wasn't she going to be glad to find out that it was only wacky pollen doing this to her and not weird nuclear changes to herself on a atomic level...

Still, she needed some distraction, and figured a good way to do it was to work on some fancy jello infused cakes she'd heard about on Pinterest, right? Who didn't love cake? And she definitely loved jello, and it would demand she put her attention elsewhere, and it would be good...all good...

If she could even find anything. Maybe she was just a little testy because of...stuff, but it seemed that none of her usual stuff was where it was supposed to be in the kitchen, resulting in a hunt through the cabinets that resulted in a lot of clattering doors, slammed shelves, at least one smashed fingers, and a lot of things being removed, moved, and hastily returned before she found one of the many things she was looking for.

"Aaaurrrg!"

Oh, yeah. The occasionally howl of frustration, too. One or two (or five) of those as well.

Summer totally had this party planned out since the beginning, really. She definitely didn't just throw something together because she'd forgotten about St. Patrick's Day until just this morning when a squirrel pinched her awake because her pajamas were pink. She toyed around with the idea of actually skipping a party, but....it was suuuuuch a party holiday. Once it was there in her brain, only the liberal flow of alcohol in a dormitory setting would satiate the beast.

So she got to work in a flurry of impressive party preparation and shot off a text to the student body:

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!
Come celebrate in the Second Floor Common Room, 9 o'clock!
<3 SUMMER

She threw together a cute outfit (as far as she knew, she wasn't really Irish, but...with a surname like Smith, who even knew, and where else would she have gotten her red hair if it wasn't in there somewhere?), hit up Turtle & Canary to buy the shit out of all their green party supplies, and hurried back to the common room to get everything set up in a whirlwind of green and clovers (and a more than a few hearts, stars, and horseshoes, thus the big sign on the cereal cabinet that read: DO NOT OPEN!!). Streamers, glitter, green beer and Guinness.

Summer looked over the hastily thrown together ordeal and nodded firmly to herself. Not too shabby at all! So now she just hoped everyone got the text...or even just wandered in, wondering what was up with all the green.

Thank god for Google. Summer, not currently living in a house of mostly males or currently attached to a boyfriend, hadn't done a very good job of keeping up with football this season, but it took all of two seconds to look up how to decorate for the party. It wasn't that she didn't like football; it was alright and she found herself getting into the games when she did watch it, she just usually didn't care. But she couldn't pass up the chance to throw another party, no matter how indifferent she was on the subject matter.

So the decorations were up, the pizzas and snacks spread out, and the main TV was set up for the actual Superbowl game and the pregame stuff. And then she'd managed to drag up another TV from somewhere else and set up a separate area of the room for the better Puppybowl game, which she hooked up to be played in rotation with occasional check-ins on the Fish Bowl and the Kitten Bowl.

Food. Drinks. Men in tight pants on one side, adorable animals on the other side. Seriously. How could she not have done this? Even if no one else showed up, she was still going to have a good time.

Summer wasn't that into football, but she definitely was into excuses for parties, so you can bet she had sent out a text to everyone letting them know that she'd be hosting a Superbowl party tomorrow in the Second Floor Common Room. But knowing there were at least a few people who weren't on board with the whole cell phone thing yet, she also whipped up a few glittery posters to go around the dorms, on all the doors and fridges in the common room or anywhere else that might seem to have a good amount of eye traffic.

Superbowl/Puppybowl Party!!*
Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!
Second Floor Common Room
Food, Drinks, and of course the Big Game!
(And the little cute game with puppies, too, because, duh)

*If you don't know what that is, then just come and find out!
Or see Summer Smith, room 204 if you have questions!

That should do the trick. Just a few more, and she'd head over to Turtle & Canary and buy every bag of Doritos in stock.

Considering she had tomorrow jam-packed even before she left on her field trip with BDG, Summer knew that she'd have to get to work with some sample jellos to bring with her tonight or else she's be S.O.L. Luckily, she'd gotten nicely inspired by her cooking class, so she was ready to do this.

She just hoped anyone who came in didn't mind the mess.

And if they did? TOOOOO BAAAAAD.

She'd be happy to share some tomato and fava bean jello. Or maybe the one with Spaghetti-o's was more your style? Or would you like to take your chances on the one with stuff in it that not even Summer was sure she could identify?

Either way, it was sure to be a good time....

Summer had to admit, having a room all to herself now that Shiemi went home for a bit seemed like it would be pretty sweet, but it was actually driving her a little up the wall. It was just too damn quiet! Sure, Shiemi was quiet to begin with, but now it was, like...ultra quiet. She was not a fan.

So instead of lounging on her bed, texting and liking stuff on Instagram, she moved herself to the common room, where she lounged on the couch, texting and liking stuff on Instagram. With a marathon of The Days and Nights of Mrs. Pancakes on TV for background noise, which was good, because she really needed to catch up with the latest seasons.

And on occasion, without looking up from her phone, Summer would blurt out Mrs. Pancake's tried and true catch phrase whenever it came on. "You don't knooow me!"

[[ open but maybe slow! ]]
somethingwithturquoise: (because i'll totally need an icon of sum)

So, Summer had planned to go out for decorating for her New Years party, but Summer underestimated Summer's own laziness, and anyone coming in the room could clearly see where she started with all the streamers and glitter and balloons and where she started to just lose interest and get bored and just kind of said 'fuck it.' It really didn't help that it turned out her name for the party was too long even for the banner, so there hung over the food table something that just simply read: "New Years Party All Night Because Who Even Cares Tha"

Which seemed appropriate enough.

She didn't get lazy about the food, though, and she definitely didn't get lazy about the drinks, so there was that. And so now she just had to hope everyone got the invitation in some way or another and that they'd show up but people here were weird about parties. But, hey, she'd take partying by herself if it came down to it over sitting in her room by herself on New Years Eve.

[[and now for a little OCD all is prepared! ]]

Well, another big old holiday around the corner, so that meant Summer was going to be heading home for a few days again to..."celebrate," but she wasn't hitching a portal back to her Earth until after her radio broadcast in the morning. She figured today would be a good day to pick up some last minute presents (being here definitely opened up the doors to some uniqueness, that was for sure), and she grabbed a few rolls of cute wrapping paper, scissors, tape, some fancy-ass bows, and lugged them all to the common room so she'd have plenty of space to start wrapping them up so they'd be ready tomorrow morning.

Of course, once she sat down on the floor, everything spread out and ready surrounding her, she got a ping on her phone. And spent the rest of the time texting back, planning parties with her friends back home, and whatever else distracted her instead of actually wrapping anything at all.

Breq had heard the voices of children this morning. It definitely wasn't the strangest thing she had experienced here, and as she was anyway spending the morning in the common room watching music videos on the TV, she decided to put some extra breakfast food on the table. If any children should show up they could help themselves. For herself, Breq made tea, and then made herself comfortable on the couch.

Music videos were an interesting combination of songs and entertainments. They were easy to watch, and a perfect combination with breakfast. Hopefully the sound wouldn't wake up any students who were trying to sleep in.

[Open! Children also welcome, of course.]

Naturally, Summer felt inclined to have a party for whatever reason, but, considering that the Devil himself had made her one of his minions after she'd been such a good employee not too long ago, Halloween in particular felt like it needed to be her jam. So she'd gone all out with the decorations and the food and the music, in a way that would have made Mr. Needful probably roll his eyes but secretly feel very proud of his little demonic underling.

And while she knew she was pretty much already rocking the Underwood Ham look, it was hardly a costume when she looked like that all the time. So she was pulling her hosting duties off in a sexy bull costume, because of course that was a thing, and she already had the horns already.

Happy Halloween!

There was a holiday coming up. There were orange flyers, with plenty of glitter, being slipped under every door in the dormitory. At one point, Summer had to pause and wonder how many flyers were stacked up unread behind some of those doors that haven't been opened for a while.

Either way, anyone should guess by now that those flyers were about a party that Summer was hosting. She was spreading the news old school style before heading down to the causeway to catch the trip to Baltimore for the thing with the people, already dressed up and ready to go in her kick-ass Fulgora costume.

Oh, like you're all so totally surprised that Summer is holding a

Summer had made the usual bowl of popcorn that accompanied her when she wanted to be lazy and just chill out in the common room with some television, but it was barely being touched. She had found a marathon of How It's Made and became completely and utterly entranced, forgetting even to blink most of the time as she marveled at the repetitive, seamless motions of the machines on the screen, working together, so efficiently!, to make a variety of useless and dumb things. She didn't care about the things so much as just the sheer majesty of the process itself, the mechanics and the smooth transitions from one machine to another, over and over and over.

It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. It almost moved her to tears. And it certainly did bring a little blush on her face, too, feeling a bit rebellious for sitting there at a school dormitory, watching something so...so....explicit.

A-hem, indeed.

The need for parties and the social status assumed to go along with them was probably the easiest part of roboSummer's programming, easily the best lynch pin that connected the two Summer, that would make someone look at her eagerness to host a party and thinking yup, definitely Summer, nothing wrong here! She'd decked the place out with glitter and streamers, started pumping some sweet tunes, and made sure all the food and beverages were readily available and spread out on the table and counters.

And now all she needed was people.

...she really hoped there would be people, but, unlike OG Summer, she would definitely survive if there weren't.

The first week of classes was almost over, so, duh, of course Summer was going to have a party! Summer had finished up another beautiful shark jello mold for tomorrow and put it in the fridge to set before she garnished it up, leaving her with a bit of time to kill. She didn't exactly want to go back to her room, really...Everything was pretty much back to normal, but there were aspects of the shark attack that just...lingered...

Besides, she wanted to give her newly enhanced phone a good run-through, and she could show it off better here in the common room. So, jello in the fridge, popcorn in a bowl, and she set the phone to its hover feature and got settled on the couch as it started her first hologram projection of a movie. She decided to go with one of the Two Brothers films, which she wasn't a huge fan of, but all those explosions and car chases and giant cats and tornados and the Mexican armada and grandmas would look great on her new fancy-ass holo-screen thing-a-majig.

Actually, she had to admit, she was starting to dig the dumb violence in these movies more these days.

You know, when Summer and Tip had talked about a party to weather through the storm, things hadn't yet been a full blown hurricane. That eventual hurricane had not yet picked up sharks. There hadn't been any sharks crashing into things, there'd only been a little rain, and there definitely hadn't been any ideas being thrown around about cooling down a hurricane to stop it and that freezing sharks was totally a thing.

The fact that all of that had happened by the time Saturday night rolled around only made it more evident to Summer that this was needed and it was needed bad. Because Summer now understood a little bit better that parties could be used for more than just trying to be popular; they could be used to try to forget that there was a freaking SHARKICANE going on outside. But she wasn't low-key panicking deep inside, no, shut up, whatever.

Mood lighting in the form of candles and lanterns and flashlights. Food in the form of leftover pizza and ice cream that they obviously had to eat because it would all go bad with the power out. Music from Summer's phone put into a cup to amplify it throughout the room, Summer's phone which was going to survive on the steady stream of back-up portable chargers she had bought and was going to try to return once this was all over. So now they just needed people, and she hoped they would come, because people felt safe.

Feeling a little restless that evening, Summer moseyed on down to the common room to make some popcorn and flip through some TV channels, looking for something good. Really, she'd realized that sitting in front of the TV was sometimes where she felt most at home, and, man, wasn't that sad? But it was true, and it was a good way to unwind a bit when she didn't really have anything better to do.

Not much on TV on a Friday night, although she did get sucked into one of movies where some lady gets blown up to a gigantic size because of radiation or aliens or something. She couldn't explain exactly why it sucked her in so much. The premise was completely ridiculous, but she was just so weirdly fascinated by it. Didn't make sense, and yet there she was.

Giant women. So dumb.

Perhaps Summer had been going about this wrong the whole time. She had taken herself to the park all day yesterday without a single sign of a Giant Head or someone to battle Mortys with, but then she considered the building in which she had woken up yesterday and returned to last night (for lack of anywhere else to go to sleep). Wouldn't it make more sense that the dormitory might house other trainers from other places, rather than the town itself? She felt foolish for not having thought of it until she dragged herself back into that unfamiliar room filled with all the flowers, but today was a new day. A Headless day still, which was making her feel mildly depressed, but she was not about to give up now. One did not reach the high levels of Headism by giving up.

So Summer (and her three Mortys) were out on the deck now, the Mortys lounging on the chairs with the occasional groan or gurgle about how booooooored they were, while Summer tried her best to push their complaint to the back of her mind as she prayed.

"O Great Heavenly Heads, I thank you for this challenge and may you grant me the strength to overcome its difficulty and rise in your glory as you see fit. I shall not claim to understand the great workings of your cranial capacities, but I put my faith in seeing the light soon. O Great Heads, O Skyward Skulls, if this is punishment, understand that my sorrow is deep and my will eager to rectify whatever offense I have caused you that brings me to this Headforsaken place. Perhaps one day you will see me worthy again."

It was far too nice a day to remain inside, so Hyacinthe snagged a book and headed out to the deck, where he could enjoy sunlight and his novel both. He knew he had things to do--there was a half-written letter to his mother he needed to complete, as well as letters to Delaunay and Phedre to post, but those could wait another few hours while he finished the book he'd borrowed from the library and the skin of wine he'd brought with him.

A lazy day, to be sure, but 'twas break week, was it not? What better time to be lazy then?

...Not that he ever truly needed the excuse.
