Summer's New Years Party; Second Floor Common Room; Sunday Night [12/31].

So, Summer had planned to go out for decorating for her New Years party, but Summer underestimated Summer's own laziness, and anyone coming in the room could clearly see where she started with all the streamers and glitter and balloons and where she started to just lose interest and get bored and just kind of said 'fuck it.' It really didn't help that it turned out her name for the party was too long even for the banner, so there hung over the food table something that just simply read: "New Years Party All Night Because Who Even Cares Tha"

Which seemed appropriate enough.

She didn't get lazy about the food, though, and she definitely didn't get lazy about the drinks, so there was that. And so now she just had to hope everyone got the invitation in some way or another and that they'd show up but people here were weird about parties. But, hey, she'd take partying by herself if it came down to it over sitting in her room by herself on New Years Eve.

Breq had no idea what to expect from a New Years party here, but she was sure the decorations wasn't quite up to standard. She didn't care however, she was here to talk to people, not to admire glitter.

"Breq!" Summer smiled to see the other girl, who always seemed to make it to these things even if they never really gelled on a very deep level, but that was okay! "Thanks for coming! Do you guys celebrate New Years where you're from?"

... Look, whenever she went back to her own Earth, she lived in a barn. Peridot had different standards than some.

Summer...honestly wasn't sure if Peridot was being serious or not. Since she never really knew her to be particularly sarcastic, though, she was going to take it with a small snort. "Thanks," she said, shrugging. "I tried."

For the first part, it was true.

"And here's our guest of honor, too! Happy New Year, Pumpkin!" She held out her arms, glancing at Peridot. "May I hold her?"

Somehow, Norman had survived his first night. Which wasn't exactly a great feat or anything, but since he didn't have much experience sleeping in unfamiliar beds, or sharing the room with people, he had started to wonder. Aaaaand now he was here, looking about as awkward as he had under the tree, but with far less staring in bemusement at random points in thin air.

Yep. Here to party. Norman Babcock, party guy.

Maybe he'd find a quiet corner, gamble on which punch was which, and just kind of people-watch for a bit.

Awkward person she didn't recognize. Probably a new student, then. As someone who had been her a while now, Breq decided to figure out whether the new student wanted company or just preferred a quite corner. Some people did, after all.

She walked up to him and said: "Hello. I don't think I have to ask you if you're new here." Then she remembered to smile.

Paris was here and she'd brought snacks! Well, the Harry and David gift basket her father's secretary had sent on his behalf.

"Let's get this year over with."

"Yeah!" Summer cheered at the sentiment, although, sure, she'd be comfortable saying it was because Paris actually showed up, too. "And, hey, you brought stuff! Cool! Add it to the table!"

Sidon felt a little awkward coming to Summer's party, especially since she'd yelled at him for dripping water on the floor last time. So, making sure he was as dry as he could handle, he spruced up and headed down to the second floor to check in on the festivities. It sounded like such an interesting event, he couldn't bear to miss out on it if he could help it!

Right, so Peebee was just going to saunter in like she hadn't just up and disappeared for the better part of the last several months, help herself to some food, and then sprawl into a chair.

Not that she'd missed this place. Nope. Really, she hadn't.

"Aw yeah, paaaaaaaarty," Yang said, showing up with two decanters of...something fruity and probably not meant for teenagers that she'd gotten at a club at home that she hadn't flashed her ID, just, leaned in alluringly with a winning smile. "What up, people?"

There's pizza, of course, an insane amount of pizza, in fact. Chips, soda, punch (both spiked and not spiked, but Summer thought it would be fun not to label them), jello shots, a disgusting jello mold monstrosity, and a somewhat sad looking vegetable platter for anyone trying to actually be healthy or something.

And of course...red solo cups.

Breq grabbed a slice of pizza. She considered trying the jello thing, but decided to wait until someone else had. Not that she hadn't seen worse things on a dinner table, but no one had ever thought to offer it to an ancillary.

Any date for a New Year was symbolical rather than actual, but it could be important anyway. Breq didn't think it was for her, but she raised a cup of something she wasn't sure what it was, at least doing something to join in.
