Rory was bored, so after a quick run into town to pick up some Ching Tai to share, she made herself comfortable in the common room with all three King of the Bracelets movies and started with the first.

She was fully prepared to helpfully point out the symbolism and archetypes to anyone who seemed to be missing them.

Luke's smile got even broader. "I'm trying. There's a lot to learn." He held up his carton of food. "I like the lessons I can eat best."

Z giggled. "So is Chinese food better than purple pancakes?"

"They're different things," Luke said. "I don't think I'd put whatever I'm eating now on a purple pancake, but purple pancakes have their place."

"Yeah," Z agreed. "Chinese food and purple pancakes sounds like a terrifying combination."

"Definitely," Luke said. "How have you been keeping yourself busy?"

Z shrugged. "Stuff. I'm still trying to learn enough Sirian to properly work the synthetron."

"Pushing random buttons is a little too random for you, huh?"

"Yeah, no, I like my food to actually be edible," Z told him.

Luke laughed. "You never lived with my aunt going through an experimental phase."

"This is very true, especially considering I've never lived with your aunt," Z pointed out.

Luke gave her an apologetic smile. "True. You weren't missing out on much, especially when she got her '5000 ways to cook nerf' cookbook for Boonta Eve."

As far as Z knows, 'nerf' is a type of foam rubber ball, so, "Yeah, that sounds kind of terrifying."
