Second Floor Common Room [evening]

Rory was bored, so after a quick run into town to pick up some Ching Tai to share, she made herself comfortable in the common room with all three King of the Bracelets movies and started with the first.

She was fully prepared to helpfully point out the symbolism and archetypes to anyone who seemed to be missing them.

[Open and with Chinese food yay!]

"Neat!" Willow said. "So it's sort of like magic."

"Sort of," Carmela nods. "Only wizards can use it to do things like alter space-time, but even non-wizards like me find it pretty useful."

"Where I'm from we have some magics that anybody can do if they say the right words and use the right ingredients for the spell," Willow said. "Then you have witches like me who can bring our own power to the party."

"Are only humans wizards- uh, or witches- where you're from?" Carmela asks, curious about all the differences between realities.

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-09-25 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Willow shook her head. "There's demons and vamps that can do magic too. Which makes them extra fun to fight, believe me."

"What about cats? Or whales?"

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-09-25 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
"I... haven't asked them?" Willow offered. "We don't get many whales walking around Sunnydale."

[identity profile] grenfelzer.livejournal.com 2006-09-25 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, they don't walk around where I'm from either," Carmela admits with a laugh. "Though they can do this thing where they have like, a portable water-bubble. But I think even New Yorkers would notice *that*."

"Like those plastic balls that gerbils can roll around in?"

[identity profile] grenfelzer.livejournal.com 2006-09-25 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Only made out of magic instead of plastic, yeah," Carmela nods.

"Neat!" Willow said. "How do they keep them from popping? And how is there room enough on the streets and sidewalks?"

[identity profile] grenfelzer.livejournal.com 2006-09-25 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess it's like those invisible shields you see on science fiction shows," Carmela says. "And I've really only seen someone use it once, and we were on the moon at the time, so space wasn't so much an issue. Well, it was, but in the other sense of the word."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-09-25 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Figuring out how to do the spell so that the ball did what you wanted it to in zero-G must've been fascinating!" Willow said, looking as though she were trying to calculate that very thing.

[identity profile] grenfelzer.livejournal.com 2006-09-25 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
"There's a lot of calculating involved, from what my brother says," Carmela offers. "And you have to be really careful when working with the Speech- since it's the language of everything, it *describes* everything. So if a wizard were to accidentally write their name wrong- like in the part where they describe how many arms they have? Poof! They might end up with three arms. Or none."
