Second Floor Common Room [evening]

Rory was bored, so after a quick run into town to pick up some Ching Tai to share, she made herself comfortable in the common room with all three King of the Bracelets movies and started with the first.

She was fully prepared to helpfully point out the symbolism and archetypes to anyone who seemed to be missing them.

[Open and with Chinese food yay!]

"Only recently," Luke said. "Things, um, changed at home and there wasn't really any other choice. The Rebellion's the group that decided I needed to come here to get a more well-rounded education."

Evie looked very sober for a moment, and said, "There's a war on in my time, too. Not in my country, but just over the Channel. Rather close, really. My brother would be fighting in it if he weren't in Cairo. That's why I'm here, my parents were nervous about the fighting." She swallowed another bite of rice, and asked, "So you're rejoining the Rebellion after you're done here? To fight this Empire? Are there a lot of Rebels?"

"That's the plan and I don't know," Luke said with a smile. "I'm very new to the organization and they are very smartly close-mouthed about who's running what where. We're trying to take down a galaxy-wide dictatorship. It's going to take a while."

"Goodness." Evie stared at him a moment, then offered, "Good luck? And, and, I hope you don't have to fight too much." She looked very sober. "The news reports from France are.. more than a little awful."

"We've definitely got to come up with a better plan than 'attack a space station, try not to die'," Luke agreed. "But I trust the people back home who are way better at this kind of thing than I am. My training's in a different direction."

"Oh?" Evie looked interested. "The flying and all? I envy you that. It looks so exciting on film, but I don't think I'll get the chance to try it for years and years."

"There's a club here," Luke pointed out. "I bet you could try there."

"Ohhh. But, but I have no experience. To actually fly a plane--" She bit her lip, looking torn between hope and terror. "They wouldn't ask me to fly a starship, would they? I-I mean, I could start on something, well. Small. Couldn't I? Maybe?"

"There's a flight simulator," Luke said with a smile. "You can crash all you want without hurting anything."

"Ohh. Ohhhhh." Evie's hands were trembling too much for even the fork, so she put it down, eyes wide. "What." She swallowed. "Day is it?"

"Monday afternoons," Luke said with a smile.

"Then-- perhaps I shall try. At least once," Evie said all in a rush. "It can't hurt. And, if I can't do it, at least I'll know what it feels like, won't I?" She smiled brilliantly at Luke. "Thank you. I never even thought of that."

"Sure," Luke said. "I love flying more than just about anything. I'm happy to bring people into the fold."
