Third Floor Common Room, Sunday Afternoon

Sov brought a radio and a soldering iron into the common room. The radio wasn't strictly necessary, but it was Sov's most priced possession and they wanted to show it to Tony, if nothing else as an example of the type of technology they were used to. They placed the things on the table and sat down, waiting for their friend to show up. They might have been a little early. Tony's promise to show them how to build a radio was important, after all.

[Sov and Tony are going to be nerdy, but it's a very open common room.]

It might have taken him a little while to bring the small pile of supplies into the common room, but Tony managed it.

And then promptly dumped everything on a couch. Ah, he was the greatest.

"I found a place in town that sold what we needed. A repair shop of all places."

"Well, most of it," Tony said, flopping down next to them. "I had some of the other things from home."

With her bag full of fun stuff that she'd picked up on a morning adventure, Ariel was in a good mood and singing a little to herself as she went to go see what might be up in other common rooms. Or it might have just been the luring call of Interesting Things that drew her there; one could never be quite sure.

Either way, she breezed it, and gave a smile to the company already there. "Hello!" she said. "How's it go--Oooooh, what's all this?"

Parts! Shiny things! Ariel was intrigued, yes!

"Really?" Her eyes instantly lit up; Ariel figured it would be something like that, but the confirmation just made her all the more excited. "That's awesome! I've taken apart radios before, but I've never built one before. I wish I knew how, though, because it was kind of sad that I couldn't put the radio back together after I took it apart..."

"Radio building," Tony said, head cocked to the side as he organized the materials into an order that might have only made sense to him.

"Is radio building as difficult as radio fixing?" Ariel had to ask, tilting her head as she looked over the materials and tried to decide which one she would like most for her collection so she could try to find one. Or maybe Tony wouldn't even need it. Who knew?

"Whoa, when did the common room turn into Modern Electronics 101?" Peter asked, wandering in. He was honestly intrigued. "Or is the school finally forming an AV Club?"

[identity profile] theotherpeter.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Fair enough," Peter said. "Just don't start anything on fire. I like this room."

He chuckled.

"Peter Bishop. You part of the new batch of inmates?"

"I wouldn't call a radio modern," Tony replied with a grin. "Unless you're from the past or something."

[identity profile] theotherpeter.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Point," Peter agreed. "Though technically I am. Just not that far in the past."

He glanced over at Sov then back to Tony. "You're Tony, I'm guessing?"

There were nerdy things going on. In the common room right down from his room. Chuck practically had radar for that.

Or, okay, actually he'd been looking for food, but bits of electronics took priority and he wound a detour to peer at the assorted bits. "Oh hey, nice. What're you building?"

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerds!

"A radio," Tony said, not looking up from the work for the moment. No burning of hands, thank you. "For Sov."

[identity profile] knowsnokungfu.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"I love there are actually people here who'd rather build one than go shopping." He really, really did. "You're on this floor?"

[identity profile] knowsnokungfu.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm now feeling kind of a nerd failure for... not actually making mine," he admitted.

Next time. He could do this next time.

"Hi, Chuck." Ariel, who had found a spot on the floor where she could watch the radio building a little, gave him a little wave and an almost shy sort of smile. Sure, there was still a good pizza party that happened, but she still had no idea where the calls she thought she sent to Chuck the other day had ended up. "How's it going?"

[identity profile] knowsnokungfu.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Chuck's grin brightened an extra notch.

Okay, maybe there were some things that could distract him from both food and shiny pieces of metal and electronics. "Hey!" Be cool, Chuck. Be a little cool. "Hi."

"It goes, really good. I got your message! Um, about the-- Socks? I was going to answer and then I realised I didn't really... get it, and had no idea... about that."

If there were shenanigans with electronics going on, was it really no surprise William found his way to the common room?

"Afternoon, all," he greeted, giving a curious look to the assembled parts.

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Shenanigans were the best thing one could do with electronics. Other than fight crime.

"Hey." No, Tony didn't know who he was. But he was being all social in answering.

[identity profile] faithandscience.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well William didn't know who Tony was either! Which might have actually been something of a relief at this point, all things considered.

"What are you constructing?" he asked, unable to hold his curiosity in any longer.

[identity profile] faithandscience.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"I presume this is your project?" Either that or they'd found an assortment of materials just lying about and had started tinkering.

...What? It was what William would have done in that situation!
