Lawn of the Dorms | Late, Late, Late Night (2am EST)

It was a quiet night. Just after midnight, a steady rain had started falling, drenching the island quickly and showing no sign of slowing. A few hours later, at 2am, the peace of the night was broken when the fire alarm started blaring. It would shrilly blare, stop and then repeat the same shrill blare two seconds later. And it was not going to stop until the all clear was given.

Thus, all the students had to carry their tired selves from their snuggly significant others or their snuggly beds to go wait IN THE RAIN on the dorm lawn. The fire department was making sure all the students were a safe distance away from the school so there were no awnings to hide under. All the students would be stuck out in the steady rain.

The fire department headed into the building but this could take awhile. Enjoy your fire drill, kids!

Joan managed to slide her feet into flip-flops before dragging herself in her tank top and pajama pants outside.

It never even occurred to her to grab an umbrella.

A very cranky and barefoot Claire was standing in the rain, arms wrapped around herself. At least it was warm and she wouldn't freeze in the shorts and t-shirt she had been sleeping in.

Jon made his way over to Claire, shirtless but wearing a pair of long sleeping pants and his running shoes.

"At least we're not having to do ten mile hikes in this stuff," he said, trying to look on the bright side.

Well, at least this time Arthur actually knew what the shrill noises meant. That was the good side.

The not-quite-as-good side involved him, outside, in his night shirt and appropriate breeches getting rained on on the lawn. He was not best pleased, no.

At least, when he wasn't busy looking around to see if there was an actual fire, or making comments at Merlin, who'd permissibly modded appeared at his side a bare few minutes in.

Ender had only had to suffer one fire drill so far, and he'd been pretty good at bearing it. He made his way down with a makeshift umbrella he'd kept for emergencies (it wasn't much, really, and way too cheap, but at least it worked) and would be more than willing to offer to someone else.

He didn't really care about getting wet.

Ellie was still sort of groggy when the fire alarm woke her, but she did manage to find Eleanor the kitten before heading outside. It didn't occur to her to bring her umbrella, too.

The kitten was not happy. Neither was Ellie.

This was not how Hannibal wanted to spend his night. He was more intent on sleeping with his girlfriend and having nice, dirty dreams. He did not want to be standing in the rain, wearing only his shorts and a t-shirt.

Already soaking wet and he'd only been out there a few minutes. This was going to be a wonderful night.

Valentine rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, in, of course, her pajamas (http://www.sleepyheads.com/Bedhead_Black_Daisy_Shortsleeve_Mandarin_Pique_Cotton_Pajama), but then discovered that it was probably pointless since it was raining and that was doing a fair job of waking her up. She looked up into it a little, blinked, and sighed.

Something better be actually burning down. Maybe now while everyone was out would be the time to start something.

The only thing keeping Ned awake was the rain. If it'd been clear, he might have curled up on the ground and just tried to rest. As it was, he was just standing there in his pants and t-shirt, looking bleary and unhappy.

Kaylee toddled over, looking uncharacteristically sleepy and grumpy herself.

"I don't like this, 'less people actually have been setting stuff on fire."

The rain was, actually, the only good thing about this drill.

Ino liked the rain. Just--why in the middle of the night? Man.

In her soaked, thin jammies, Ino bounced from foot to foot in her sandals as the rain plastered her hair to her face.

Pffft. Umbrellas were for the weak.

She was a bit covered in mud. She hadn't meant to.

Rose should have been more annoyed at getting woken up in the middle of the night by a godawful siren, but standing outside in the dark with masses of other kids almost felt like she was back at St. Vlad's, and after her conversation with Ben earlier, she had to stop herself from craning her neck to look for Lissa.

And then she was annoyed at herself. Annoyed at herself and wet from the rain. It was a good combination.

Every other fire alarm that he'd heard had only proven to be drills so Alex had tried to stay in bed. That proved fruitless when the goddamn alarm wouldn't shut up. So, he'd come down to the lawn, found himself soaking wet and unable to smoke.

Hinata was rather certain that this was rather a waste--not the drill, she conceded, but in the rain it was definitely more of a pain.

Of course, most students probably didn't have a kitten who, while on a wee cat leash, was still sniffing around interestedly. So much for that whole 'cats don't like water bit', really. Yei seemed fine even as she was soaked and looking rather ridiculous.

Worf was caught unprepared for the fire drill. As a result he was out in the rain wearing only his starfleet regulation boxers in the rain.

If there was any discomfort as a result, Worf was certainly not going to show it as he stood at attention waiting for the drill to be over.

Chuck (http://www.barenecessities.com/Mansilk-Pinstripe-Pajama-Pants_product_MansilkM411P_,search,.htm) wasn't about to fall for the whole "rush out like an idiot and be forced to stand outside in the cold" fire drill thing twice, thank you. When the alarm went off he had the foresight to grab an umbrella and a joint and was now enjoying the comforts of both as he stood outside.

That's right. The rest of you could suck it.

As soon as Turtle stepped outside and realized that it was raining during the fire drill, she slipped off a bit to head over to the store.

And came back shortly with a cart full of umbrellas.

"Five bucks! Limited time offer! Don't be stuck out here getting soaked to the bone, grab one of these babies for just five bucks, fire drill special!"

She, herself, had made sure to grab a hat.

"I'll have an umbrella," Arthur said, once he'd both heard her voice (which was more than familiar to him; more so, in fact, than the ordinary stores around here) and spotted her.

Just give him a minute as he sorted five dollar bills from hundred dollar bills.

Riggins was standing out in his boxers looking like the rain wasn't bothering him all that much. He was actually trying not to fall asleep standing up.

After successfully scoring an umbrella from Turtle, Joan wandered the lawn and noticed a nearly naked Riggins. Apparently there were upsides to middle of the night fire drills in the rain.

She walked over. "Want to share?" she asked, holding her umbrella out.

Tony was out there in just his Space Battles boxer shorts. (Shut up.) He was only half-awake, though, so it didn't bother him just yet.

Oh, Tahiri was Not Happy. It wasn't that she'd had the worst day although she'd certainly had better, but she'd only managed to get to sleep minutes before the alarm went off and wow, was she ever swearing up a streak in Yuuzhan Vong right now.

Emma had managed to tug on a pair of flats when she tumbled out the door, but she hadn't had the presence of mind to realize it was raining out. So now she was standing outside in her pajamas, soaked to the bone.

Right about now, she probably hated almost everyone.

Maron was half asleep, and rubbing her eyes to try and wake up, even though the rain was definitely helping with that.

She blinked around the area, drowsily, and was definitely of the opinion that this time was better spent sleeping. Sleep. Please?

Shilo managed to blearily wander into Maron, and was just about to snap at the other girl when she woke up enough to recognize her. "Hey Maron," she mumbled. "What's going on?"

All the knew was that there were very loud noises, and everyone else had been leaving the building, so she'd followed suite.

Harper was not happy. She'd at least grabbed a blanket before scrambling out of the dorms and had it draped around her shoulders. Still, it looked like her bad week was getting worse.

Fiona was not happy. Death herself could not have given a glare the likes of which she was delivering to all and sundry, not sure who to blame for this idiocy but quite prepared to eviscerate with her elbows should she find out.

Wrapped around her shoulders was the only real jacket she owned, a short white denim thing that did absolutely nothing for the rain, which was why she was positively soaked in her t-shirt and pajama bottoms. Just because she wasn't freezing didn't mean this wasn't deeply annoying, after all, and she WANTED TO BE ASLEEP.

"Maybe a bit late," Karla said, looking Fiona up and down, "But I've got a shelter here." She waved above her head, where it looked as if the rain was hitting a giant pane of glass.

Liir was probably one of the least annoyed. Well used to being woken up by loud noises, well used to cold, wet nights, Liir simply set up 'shop' as it were underneath one of the trees with his mother's cape drapped over him. Beside him, Makejoy curled up on the damp grass, just fine with the change in scenery.

Go ahead, hate him in the face for being relatively content. He won't mind.
