Sophomore Class Stu-Co Meeting 4th Floor CR: Saturday Evening

Lana and Lilly have gone to some trouble to straighten up the common room and get it ready for the meeting. Hopefully they'll get a decent turn-out and be able to get some stuff figured out for the school elections. A couple of Lilly's posters are hung up on either side of the door so everyone will know this is the right place.

Lana and Lilly are both there early just in case. Lana's a little on the nervous side, but Lilly's calm and composed.

There is pizza and soda set out on a table, along with a bowl of M&M's, a few bowls with chips, and some brownies.


Come on in, mix and mingle with the other sophomores, and help us decide who wants to run for Student Council.

Shep shuffles in, still in his pajamas, with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders. He's clearly got the flu, but dragged himself out of his room because Lana expected him to be there.

With something of a grunt he dropped onto the end of a couch, pulled his blanket up to his ears and curled up in a little ball. He'd said he'd be there. Not that he'd be conscious.

Lily had seen the posters up earlier in the day, and thought she should at least check it out. Besides, it might be nice to get more involved in helping the student body.

Walking into the common room, she smiled and waved to the two girls already there.

Lilly camps out on a couch with a soda, waiting for a few more people to show, giving Lana a smile now and again to try and help soothe Lana's nervous energy.

There's free pizza. People will totally show up.

Cally stares at the table, debating what sort of food would be best to grab first.

She decides to grab a big slice of pizza and a napkin, and smiles. "Great idea. Anything that scores me free food is a great idea."

Isabel came down the hall to the common room. She stopped in the doorway to see if she recognized anyone.

Having been wandering around on the beach most of the day, Archie comes in late and picks up a piece of pizza. He looks at it dubiously; he's still not quite sure it's food.

Anders is there, and he rolls his eyes at this, but he and Cally are at least familiar faces; he hopes it's not too obvious that he's lingering in their general vicinity.

Peter wandered into the common room and grabbed some soda. He had been just talking with Elizabeth Weir about sophomore Student Council, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Kiki comes in, takes a slice of pizza gratefully, but before she eats it, drinks what probably anyone except a true computer geek would consider an unhealthy amount of Mountain Dew.

Lilly talks to everyone at once, because she will rightfully be the center of attention, damnit.

"Hey guys. I am thinking of running for Student Council for a few reasons. I ran Homecoming committee last semester, so I think I've totally proved I have the organizational skills and know how to throw a kick-ass party.

If elected, I would definitely try to take a leadership position when it came to event planning, because that's definitely my strong suit. But I care a lot about the other issues around the school, for our class of course, which is obviously the best, but for the entire student body too.

Like, security is totally hot at this school is a main concern of mine as well.

Anyway, another cool thing is that I am guaranteed to serve the full term, because it's not like I can die again or anything like that.

That's pretty much it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. And I think, no matter what, we should totally keep on having class meetings every once and a while just to hang out with our fellow sophomores and show that we are way more awesome than the other classes and maybe do some stuff together as well. Socially and maybe even put together something for like, sick, old people or sad puppies or whatever. I'd be willing to help put together meetings, or we could work something else out. Thanks."

After listening to Lilly, Isabel panicked a bit because she didn't have a speech planned. But she was pretty sure she could get a few sentences out without looking like an idiot.

"Hi, I'm Isabel Evans. I'm definitely interested in running for class representative. I've held similar positions at my old high school, was responsible for our school Christmas pageant, and I did some cheerleading. I know that as a new person, I might not have the experience that some of you have with Fandom's unique environment. But maybe that would work in my favor. I'm seeing everything for the first time so I think that'll give me a different perspective to work with."

She smiled before continuing, "And Lilly was definitely right, as a class, we should stick together."

"Anyway that's all I have to say. Thanks!"

As it appears this is the time for potential candidates to out themselves, Lily steps up after her two-L-ed counterpart, and hopes she doesn't sound too nervous.

"Hi, for those of you I haven't met yet, I'm Lily Evans. The other Lily.

I'm thinking of running because I'd really like to get more involved at the school - to put myself out there to help the student body in any way I can.

I held the leadership role of 'prefect' at my former boarding school - prefects were there to mentor younger students, answer any questions concerning school policies and course assignments, help enforce school rules, shine our badges, and generally act as a liason between students and faculty at the school. I've also been on the Peer Mediator team since it was founded here at Fandom High, and I have excellent organizational skills and willingness to do the behind-the-scenes work that needs to go into making sure planned events go smoothly. I will work hard for the good of my fellow students, and... I think that's it.

"Okay, after hearing everyone else, I don't know why you'd want me to run, but here goes. My name's Lana Lang. I don't really have any experience in Student Government, but I was always really involved in helping to organize things like the proms and blood drives and that sort of thing. I also owned and managed a coffee shop back home, so I have some ability in planning and working with others.

My main reason for being interested in running is that I want to be able to help out, to support our class, and help make the school an even better place. I want to make sure that things like the Safe Walk program and the self-defense classes keep being held so that students feel secure. And I'd like to see the sophomore class get a little more respect than we currently have.

So... I guess that's about it."

Lana smiles and goes back to sit with and check on Shep.

Bridge waves cheerfully at everyone.

"Hi!" He says enthusiastically, "My name's Bridge Carson, which some of you know and some of you don't. Uhm, I'm here 'cause I'm interested in running for the Student Council. Like Lily, I'm a Peer Mediator and have a lot of experience helping out other students- at my old school, I was an advisor to the D-Level Cadets- sort of equivalent to Freshmen here, I guess. I believe I'm the kind of person who can talk about what's important to the Sophomore class as a whole, as well as respecting everyone's right to think their own thoughts in their own way."

After getting dragged (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhighdorms/364727.html?thread=15222967) to the middle of the room by Bridge, Peter paused for a moment to come up with something to say.

"Um, hi. I'm Peter Parker, I'm new, and I'm running in part because Bridge trapped me with logic. But if I'm elected, I promise to do my best to serve my fellow sophomores as well as the school as a whole. I have creative thinking skills and that will come in handy because if everything I've heard about this place over the past day is true, then everything here is nuts."

"Now, I have no experience in student government. And I only know three of the people in this room, so I can't say that you all know me and what kind of job I would do. Quite frankly, it would be nuts if you voted for me ."

"So if everything here is nuts, and voting for me would be nuts, you have no reason not to vote for me. Thank you."

Jessica enters the room and scans it for familiar faces. She knew that she was more than fashionably late, so as not to be the center of attention she pours herself a glass of soda, swivels it about in her hand, and leans against the refreshments table.
