Sixth Floor, Kappa Delta Gremlin Sorority Meeting, Tuesday Afternoon/Evening

Sorority met later than usual today, and Emma and Quinn had taken over the entire sixth floor. There were big fluffy pillows everywhere, with every kind of snack and non-alcoholic beverage you could mod dream up, and a stack of dictionaries, encyclopedias, and various reference books.

"So, finals," Emma said cheerfully. "Where some of you study frantically because you haven't paid attention this semester."

"And where some of you have to study frantically, because you want to go to college and no school is going to accept having been the wrong age every other reason as an excuse for a low GPA," Quinn added. "Anyhow, they're here. Hopefully they aren't killing you too much. If you're lucky enough to be done, please don't taunt the rest of us too much."

"So we've set up a study-night," Emma explained. "We can camp out here tonight, and help each other with our work. Studying alone causes ulcers. Studying with your supposed peers....at least it will be memorable?"

Kappa Delta Gremlin Meeting, The Deck, Tuesday After Classes

The Sorority met on the deck today, and there was a fire crackling away in the firepit. S'mores fixings -- plus some fruit for people who wanted something healthier -- were spread out on the picnic table, and Quinn was perched on a wall as she started to talk.

"This is a planning meeting," she said. "We have a lot we wanted to do before graduation, and it's time to start moving or decide everything won't happen. We can't rest on our laurels from the fun run forever."

She tapped her clipboard with the end of the pen. "We'd planned on a job shadowing day and a date auction."

"For the job shadowing," Emma continued, "we'd considered the trooper station. While police work is not a job that most people associate as something women would be interested in, it is important to know all your options."

Emma would make a horrible cop, and wasn't interested in the slightest. But some of them might be.

"For the date auction, people would bid on us, with all profit going to our designated charity. This is just a date. Dinner, a movie, whatever. You are not expected to put out, and if anyone pushes it, kick 'em where it counts. Not that the boys here would push it, because they value their hides."

Quinn snorted back a laugh behind her hand. "We were also thinking about doing a volunteer day here in town. It's not glamorous, but there are always parts of the park that need weeding, and there's a day care in the community center where we could help out. If you have another suggestion, we'd be happy to hear it."

"We want to know what you want to do," Emma agreed. "Some of these could also be done jointly with the fraternity, if we wanted to show Gremlin spirit, or a little friendly competition, such as seeing who weeds the most or which organization raises more money. So speak up, because we have a lot of options."

The Dorms Gym / Kappa Delta Gremlin Sorority Meeting / Tuesday Afternoon

"The fun run is next week," Quinn said, once the sisters were gathered in the gym. "This week, we're going to do some warming up and relaxation. We're doing yoga." She personally thought yoga was for hippies, but her suggestion of cheer boot camp had not gone over well. Something about liability.

"Neither one of us is a yoga instructor," she added, "so we're working with a video."

Emma shared Quinn's private thought on hippies and yoga, but she'd add second-and-third trophy wives to the list of people who did yoga. They seemed to think it was some sort of magic that kept them from being the next ex-mrs.

"If anything hurts too much, don't push it," she advised, starting up the dvd and grabbing a yoga mat for herself. "I'm not walking anyone to the clinic."

Quinn started going through the warm-up sequence in the video. If she briefly got smaller, furrier, and floppier of ear as the cheerful German woman lead them through downward-facing dog ... that was probably a trick of the light. Right?

[OOC: OCD UP! Yes, you can change your character (temporarily) into any of the creatures on this list during yoga! Changing is optional, however, and feel free to have the Fandom Strange pass you by.]

First Floor Rec Room / Kappa Delta Gremlin Sorority Meeting / Tuesday Afternoon

"Yesterday's class on sexual education and contraception was incomplete and ridiculous," Emma stated once everyone had arrived. "So. We are going to discuss this properly, and have some 'girl talk' while we are at it."

There's a lot more to talk about than making water balloons. )

"And if you have a question," she added, with deliberate brightness, "You can write it down and drop it in this bowl and we'll do our best to get an answer for you before the end of the meeting."

[OOC: OCD up! Finally! Dear LJ, comments are for replying, not for nomming.]

First Floor Rec Room / Kappa Delta Gremlin Meeting / Tuesday Afternoon

When the sorority members arrived in the rec room today, they'd find only Emma, perched comfortably with a smirk in the comfiest chair. "We were going to discuss sexual education today," she said briskly. "But since Quinn is busy sleeping off the consequences of her choices - it was a charming child, I'm sure - I'm going to usurp the meeting today to call attention to our mission as a sorority."

"Kappa Delta Gremlin was founded as a service-oriented sorority aimed at promoting self-esteem and life skills for female, or female-identifying, Fandom students. Now, what 'service-oriented' means is that the money we earned in the bake sale is going to go towards paying expenses for a larger fundraiser, not more spa trips."

She leaned over and picked up some official-looking pamphlets off the floor and started passing them around. "Now, Kappa Delta, our parent sorority, supports four national philanthropies: Girl Scouts of the USA, Prevent Child Abuse America, the Children's Hospital of Richmond, Virginia, and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Research Awards. Quinn and I are looking at holding both a Fun Run and a date auction to try to raise money for one of these organizations, and you can participate in either or both events."

"Another activity options is that every Kappa Delta collegiate chapter holds an annual "Shamrock Event" to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America, as well as a local children's philanthropy of their chapter's choice. We, however, have not selected a charity to support as a group."

"I'd like us to discuss as a group which of the four nationals we'd like to focus on, or if there's a charity closer to home that we think is a better fit for us. Thoughts?"

[OOC: OCD up, missing Quinn modded with permissions.]

Around The Deck, Sunday Afternoon [2.13]

SOMEHOW Emma seemed to have found a large pile of snow beside the deck. Perhaps it had been pushed there by a plow, or created by a snow-fairy (or mutant). Either way, it was perfect for making snowmen, a fort, and/or a snowball fight.

"Right," Emma said, looking over her assorted charges. She'd make a quick handwavey trip to T&C to ensure everyone had appropriate cold-weather gear. "Remember, hats and coats stay on - I know it's warm, but it's not THAT warm - and no putting snow down another child's coat. I will place you in telepathic time-out if I catch you."

She brushed more snow off a chair on the deck, and threw a towel down before taking a seat. "Now go to it."

[OOC: OPEN SNOWPILE IS OPEN! ALL CHILDREN (AND PARENTS) WELCOME!]

Fifth Floor Common Room [Sunday morning]

After so many requests for pancakes from her own children yesterday morning, Sookie figured that might be a theme for the weekend. And when she woke up, and Henry wasn't gone, at least, she'd run out to get a few supplies before returning to the common room to see what she could put together. (Though, of course, Henry had insisted on coming with her once he realized she was Going to the Store and he might Get Stuff.)

It clearly just wasn't her own children she was worried about, here, Drake/di Glacia/Stackhouse appetites aside. Sookie had bought enough things to make breakfast for pretty much any kids (and parents) who showed up. She was setting to work on the pancakes, but in other pans she was busily scrambling eggs and frying up some bacon. She'd also made a point to buy orange and apple juice and milk both chocolate and white, because there was no way in hell she was letting more of those kids just drink coffee. She didn't care if it was for a weekend, it was just irresponsible.

[open common room! come have breakfast!]

First Floor Lobby, Bake Sale, All Day Thursday.

The student council weren't the only ones set up in the lobby today. Kappa Delta Gremlin had a table of their own, selling various baked goods made by the members of the sorority.

There were various and sundry cookies, muffins, brownies, anything moddable that a hungry student could want. Or a hungry love monkey, which Emma had to keep chasing away from the food. Fandom.

First Floor Rec Room / Kappa Delta Gremlin Meeting / Tuesday Afternoon

As the girls arrived, they'd find that the first floor rec room had a buffet. A waffle buffet, complete with every topping you could imagine.

The boys were going to fight dirty with ice cream? Fine. The girls could do better.

"We are Kappa Delta Gremlin," Emma began crisply, once everyone had food. "Theoretically, a service-oriented sorority aimed at promoting self-esteem and life skills for female - or female-identifying - Fandom students, KDG is here to provide Girl Power and moral support. Which means yes, we'll be doing a spa trip next week and planning fundraisers and finding causes to support. It's perfectly acceptable to be smart and enjoy the finer things in life, despite what social media may tell us."

Quinn was impressed by how together Emma sounded. She'd have to ask her later if she'd done this kind of thing before. "Today we're mingling," she continued. "Get some waffles, find a seat, tell us your name, age, where you're from, and one embarrassing secret."

Her smile held only the slightest hint of a sting. "We won't judge. We're all sisters here."

[OOC: OCD IS UP AND WAFFLES ARE HOT AND TASTY.]

Sixth Floor Slumber Party - Monday Night

It was probably a bit later than most sleepovers began once Quinn and Emma were back at the dorms and had everything in place, but Quinn had needed to work today and Emma was still skipping part of the luau to do it. Besides, everyone needed to enjoy the nice weather, right?

Everything had been set up in advance, in case anyone didn't hit the beach, but by eight Quinn was there (and Emma was close behind at nine-thirty) setting up the food and pulling out the sekkrit stash of wine coolers they'd smuggled into the dorms. No one had to drink - this wasn't that kind of party - but sometimes girls just needed to have fun.

[OOC: Party open to all the girls in the dorms! Boys who try to crash will either get thrown out or subjected to makeovers. BE WARNED.]

Fifth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Evening

It was her birthday.

Emma turned the crayon-colored card Hank had manged to mail her over in her hands, trying to wrap her mind around it while the television droned on in the background with Tim Gunn telling someone why they sucked in an awesome manner.

It was her birthday, and she was eighteen. She no longer had to worry about Winston trying to have her committed so that she'd disappear, or social services, or anything like that. She could open a bank account in her own name. She could go to college, get a job, be seen in public. She could have her life back.

It was almost too big to process, but every time she started getting overwhelmed, she touched the flower in her hair and had to grin a little bit.

It was her eighteenth birthday. And so far, it was off to a pretty good start.

[Open post is open!]

Lobby: Tuesday, All Day [ 12/14 ] - StuCo Coffee Bar!

It was a sleepy Quinn who got to the lobby and eyed the pastries on the coffee cart across the lobby from the Christmas tree with suspicion. Eventually, she selected an apple danish and prepared to pick at it while she texted back and forth with Brittany. Studying felt lame.

Still, she had to admit the cart looked awesome. There was tons of coffee (and other hot beverages), pastries, and extra pens and paper for anyone who might need one before class. A sign the definitely needed more glitter was hung on the cart, reading: GOOD LUCK ON YOUR FINALS, FROM YOUR STUDENT COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES.

[OOC: Grab snaaaacks! Or talk to Quinn. Or ... whatever.]

The Roof | Afternoon | Tuesday | November 9

Considering how he was still feeling, Alex decided to try some fresh, crisp air. He hadn't been up to the roof in awhile and he hoped that the chilliness would help clear his head and make him a little less likely to jump the first hot girl he saw.

He wandered over to the roof's ledge and pulled his jacket around him tighter before he lit his first (of what would be many) cigarettes. It was a little harder to deal with all this with a new, tiny roommate. He couldn't hit walls or throw things or drink or anything too bad with a kid who looked like he wasn't even eleven in there.

So, he'd stay here and smoke what would probably become an entire pack of cigarettes. Maybe he'd take a cold shower. Or maybe he'd just go find someone that could help. Man, this fucking island.

[The roof's open, sure]

The Deck -- Late Saturday Morning

If you listened to radio, there were apparently certain... rumors going around that one Emma Grace Frost was 'Difficult.'

Which in no way, shape, or form, had influenced herself to throw on a white bikini and go lay out on the deck today. While diamond. Far be it from Emma to be that spiteful.

She was simply trying to relax enough to change back. Really. Seeing how many rainbows she could cause or freaking out her fellow classmates was simply a side-bonus.

[OOC: Open deck, open post! I'm at woooooooork and should be amused.]
endsthegame: (worried arriving)

The Lobby, Sunday Afternoon

A rip opened in the middle of the dorms lobby-- but it was unlike any void the island had seen before. It didn't precisely shine, but white light did filter out, almost tentatively, like the rays of the morning sun. It did not pull or pluck at anything, and when it vanished, it would leave the dorms exactly as it had found them.

It was not a rift that would take; it was a rift that would give.

Give back the people it had taken, that is.

[[ for those who were formerly strewn across the multiverse, after they touch their part! come home, folks ]]

The Salle, Thursday Morning.

People had been dreaming.

This, in and of itself, was not unusual, and Emma was quite used to getting bits and pieces of other people jumbled in her head while she tried to sleep. It happened; she coped. Nightmares, emo, dirty dreams, nonsense dreams, dreams of people forced to take a cooking class or being chased by aliens in tutus. For the most part, she ignored the bleed.

This, however... this was a conspiracy designed to drive her mad. That was all there was to it.

Which was why Emma was in the salle, before she actually cut someone's head off. Her practice foil cutting the air as she brought it up to en garde and began going through her stances and parries systematically.

Warm fuzzy happy family shit. Ugh. She was going to need to wash her brain out with bleach.

[OOC: I had to. Open salle is open, SP advisory in effect.]

Main Campfire | Evening | Saturday | June 12

The cabins were starting to get to Alex. Sure, he and Griff often got into fistfights or bitch fights or any other type of fights but he'd only had to deal with one person when he was in a pissy mood. And Griff wasn't one to nag or be nosy so it'd been a copacetic situation.

Now, just to stop feeling like the walls were closing in on him, Alex had bolted out of his cabin and towards the campfire with the intention of smoking enough cigarettes to calm himself down. His mood was just fine, for once, but he was not built for cabin living.

At least the sun was going down and taking the temperature with it. Alex found a spot near the campfire, relaxed back against a log and stretched out, already lighting up a smoke and taking advantage of being outside to indulge in his favorite vice.

See, he already felt better.

[Campfire's hasn't lost that lovin' feelin' but it definitely has that open feelin'!]

Fourth Floor Common Room | Sunday Evening | 5/9/2010

Peter Bishop was not a fan of having his worldview rocked. He typically considered himself a very smart and rational human being.

Seemingly being dumped fifteen some years in the future was not a concept that gelled well with rational and scientific thought. It honestly made him feel like he was going crazy, no matter how much his conversation with Jacob had reassured him.

So Peter slunk into the couch, unable to concentrate enough to read. Instead, he flipped on the TV and proceeded to be horrified by the program that was on. Who thought it would be a good idea to film crazy new Jerseyians and put them on TV?

[ooc: Open common room is open!]

Sixth Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening [WARREN'S BIRTHDAY PARTY!]

Through some miracle of timing, Bobby had actually managed to get everything for Warren's party set up earlier before heading off to Karla's.

Now, though, it was Warren's turn. Hopefully people would still have room for even more food after a BBQ, because the amount of food two brilliant bakers plus one person with access to a very good catering service was impressive.

At least people could work all those excess calories off in the ball pit?

[OOC: up early for slowplay, yay!]

Lawn of the Dorms | Late Late Late Sunday Night | April 18

After last weekend, the students of Fandom were probably hoping for a nice, lazy weekend before their week filled with finals. Unfortunately, it could never be easy for people who lived on the island. Where there was once still and quiet, there was now a shrill fire alarm going off, blaring loud enough to even be heard by the deepest of sleeper.

Time to evacuate the dorms, students! And, once everyone started spilling out onto the lawn, they'd find that Fandom had another treat for them. It was warm, that was good, but at some point that night it'd started raining. And it wasn't just ordinary rain. It was raining chocolate syrup and occasionally hailing down marshmallows.

Just another typical late night out on the lawn of the dorms for a fire drill! Hope you brought your umbrella!

[open fire drill! after radio so NFB!]
