The strange thing about having so much free time was that you started even missing chores that you always hated in the first place. Which was the reason Beauty was in the stables, cleaning out Greatheart's stall -- a chore she didn't hate, but there weren't any stumps that needed pulling or wood that needed chopping. Even though technically there was no need, since whomever looked after the place made sure the horse was always well cared for and his living space always clean.

Beauty might have been also singing very softly under her breath as well, as she worked. Although that she'd deny if you mentioned it.

Jamie was lounging in the common room watching Paula Deen go through 16 pounds of butter in one thirty minute episode.

And despite the overabundance of butter, watching the show made Jamie hungry. So he stamped his foot on the ground to create a duplicate.

"Make me a sandwich," Jamie ordered.

"Make it yourself," the duplicate grumbled as he stretched out on the sofa and yawned. "I don't feel like it."

Jamie sighed and stamped his foot again. "Make me a sandwich."

"What's the point?" the new duplicated asked glumly. "A million years from now will anyone care that we made a sandwich today when our sun goes supernova and wipes out the entire solar system?"

Jamie face-palmed. It was going to be one of those days.

Karal was cooking. No, the common room wasn't on fire. No, the stove hadn't exploded, or the fridge. There were no broken plates or twisted spoons. Or eggy books.

That would be because what he was cooking, or rather about to cook, were pancakes. He was hungry, he was starting to become quite bored, and - really - pancakes were perhaps the universal food. Flour and water and apply heat. Simple.

Applying heat was to be done via frypan, and the flour and water had been mixed, with only a little bit of mess, in a bowl.

:This should be entertaining.: Altra was watching from a safe distance away.

"Glory, how difficult can it be?" Karal replied as he spooned some into the pan, then frowned at the sudden sizzle. "Maybe I should turn the heat down."

[ooc: open as common rooms are wont to be.]
