Cally needed to learn about football. Well, that is, Cally had expressed some interest in knowing about football, and Dolf would be doing her a disservice if he didn't help her out in that. So, rather than check the scores on his phone, today he was going to sit right here in the computer lab and search for games to show her.

Preferably recent ones. And ones being played between teams that mattered, so it'd be easier for her to get into it.

Finally, he picked the FC Twente - AZ game from last night. That'd probably be a good one to start her on. Nothing that involved explaining the history of a team like Ajax or Feyenoord, and still good football.

He had no idea what he was getting into.

The dorm hallways seemed a little quieter than they had been before. Worried that something might have happened without his knowledge, Dolf had gone to the computer lab to look up last night's radio broadcast. He had a tendency to miss them, but he also knew they liked to report on every detail.

He listened to it, but was none the wiser. Maybe he had just become paranoid without knowing it. He resolved to take yesterday's advice to Raven to heart, and pushed the slight, uneasy feeling away from himself - or at least as far away as he could manage it.

To distract himself, he started to google, and to check old websites he used to look at when... well, when he was back home. He wound up watching the new Dutch prime minister's first grilling in the chamber of representatives with some befuddlement. The last thing he remembered of Mark Rutte, he was still being contested by Rita Verdonk for the leadership of the Liberal Party... and he hadn't even been into politics at the time.

Sufficient to say, he was busy reading up after that.

William had a jumpdrive and... no idea how to use it.

Fortunately, he knew people who had a much better grasp on these things than he did, which is precisely why he had called Claudia and was now trying to resist the urge to pry the casing off one of the computer towers as he waited for her to show up.

Jack had started off trying to find information on the new models of semi trucks, which led to browsing of videos on Youtube about the reviews of the trucks.

Honest.

He had no idea how he found his way to this parody of Dusk and Wendy the Werewolf Stalker and the guy from Spooky Things. Honest. Maybe he should turn down the volume...

Robin had been working on the music video for awhile, teaching himself with the help of library books, and a tutorial or two. It was very simplistic, simply the recording he and his friends had made of Beatrice, and a montage of photos of her. But he was ultimately satisfied with it.

With a click of the mouse, he finished posting the file on youtube. Then he sat for awhile, pondering the fact that the video would not technically be seen until over a decade after Beatrice's death. Weird.

After getting his assignment from class, Hannibal made his way back to the computer lab and took a seat. He figured going through the internet would be quicker than going through books in the library.

And really, the internet would have all the salacious rumors about his particular topic. He didn't know if Professor Whitaker particularly wanted an assignment filled with gossip but Hannibal knew it made for a more entertaining paper.

So, he took a seat at one of the computers and started doing his research. Jose Canseco was such a poser.

[Open, of course! Posted for the TV class but totes open for anyone who wants to chat! Hannibal won't be there long, though.]

On his way back to the Super Bowl party from the girlkissy party, Sokka swung by the computer lab. A few minutes with a movie-editing program, and voila! Email.

Karal was in the computer lab. Much as he distrusted the machines, he couldn’t do his assignment for Professor Stinson's class without one.

He'd figured out how to find music, and how to 'torrent' - though what it had to do with water, he was still trying to figure out - and couldn't believe how generous people were, sharing what they had with others out of the goodness of their hearts.

He would have been greatly distressed to discover it was less than legal.

After a few hours, regularly interspersed with moments of absolute horror at some of what he found, he was finally satisfied, and followed the instructions with painstaking care to burn it to a compact disc.

Which is when the world suddenly went funny and he fell off the chair. Yelping, he scrambled to his feet - all four of them - and backed up until he hit the wall, whereupon he yelped again, scrambled forward, tail tucked between his legs, ran straight into the chair, knocking it and himself flying, and finally ended up in a tangled heap.

Oh, glory. What now? He craned his head around to examine himself. Wonderful.

Karal managed to get to his feet, shook himself all over and, as instinct took over, started to gnaw on the chair in frustration.

It wasn't long before it was reduced to slobbery bit parts, and then Karal was Karal again, sitting in the middle of the chair wreckage, feeling oddly satisfied.

His discs had finished burning, so he hid the chair remnants and then fled back to his room before anything else could happen.

[ooc: just establishy for Karal, but open for all your one-chair-down, possibly dingo-haired computer lab needs!]

Karal was braving the computer labs, and he wasn't alone. He'd made Altra come, too.

:I don't know what you're so worried about,: the Firecat said as Karal warily pressed the button to turn the machine on.

"I am not worried. I am cautious." And he was rapidly coming to the conclusion that he didn't really like computers. "Something I thought you would approve of."

Altra put his front paws on the desk and stared at the screen. :There's such a thing as being too cautious.:

Karal made a face at the 'cat. "If you were more cautious, you would not have your nose bitten by kittens." Altra glared at him and grumbled something Karal pretended not to hear. "Now hush, I need to concentrate."

He was only there in the hopes of finding an indication that Molly had received his letter. He hadn't expected to find one sent in return. Grinning from ear to ear, he worked out how to send it to paper, and then settled back in the chair, absently scratching Altra's ears while he read.

Jack had slept in gloriously late. After a cup of coffee, he'd stumbled down to the computer labs clutching another, with the intention of emailing Parker. It seemed safer than phoning, somehow. Not that Parker'd have her phone on anywhere its ring would cause a problem, but hey, in his sleep hungover brain, emailing just seemed to make more sense.

sendin' emails )

After hitting send he tipped his chair back, smirking as he put his feet on the desk and sipped his coffee. If she was around, that last line would definitely get a response.

After hearing all those mentions of email on the radio, Buffy fed Berthold and went down to the computer lab to check them out for herself. She read Sam's, Zero's and Kawalsky's. The latter obviously required a response, so she typed it quickly and sent it off, before leaning back in her chair. She wasn't quite sure who Zero was, but she sympathized on the dishwater blonde thing.

But Alec and Sam... She wondered idly if Dawn still had that frying pan lying around.

Nadia was online, looking up alternative therapies for . . . well, just about anything. Because lord only knew what was causing her sleep issues, but traditional western medicine didn't seem to be helping much, and evil-spell amulets weren't, either.

The vision quest didn't seem like a bad idea. And, after she fell asleep at the keyboard twice, she was pretty sure that deciding against going to the cheerleading competition had also been a good idea.

Cally was in the computer lab, typing up a letter to Socinus. She wasn't quite looking at the screen, as she was a bit distracted, thinking about other things as well. So, there she typed.

I'm thinking about getting some mikl and cookies for later. Everything's better with that, right?

She looked back at the screen, and reread her letter so far.

And started to cry. Because how much did her life suck if she can't even write words properly? Things were completely hopeless.

Because seriously, here she was in the computer lab, crying over misspelled milk.

Bored out of her skull after a workout in the gym, Parker decided not to risk going off-campus until she had some kind of back-up, and to try and find out how people were doing.

To Jarod )

To Isabel )

Then she text-messaged to Isabel:

EVERYONE OKAY. WEATHER'S BEHAVING. HOPE MAX IS TOO. - PARKER

~~~
Parker went back to trying to find info on the Gentlemen, without much success. She might also have been looking for automated voice program, just to make things simpler.
[ooc: open for interaction; okay to say Parker and Broots communicated, but the substance is NFB]
Nadia came in and immediately sat down at one of the computers, switching on the monitor and calling up a search engine.
Then she stared at it.
What the heck was she supposed to search for? Oh hell.
Nadia had woken up this morning with the Best Idea Ever. She was going to go on the computer and find the funnest game there was and get alllllll of her friends to play it with her. So, after getting some pancakes from Pippi, she wandered over the computer lab and sat down to start looking.
First she checked her email. Which gave her another Best Idea Ever. She should email her dad! She didn't know his email address, but she bet she could guess!
Dear Dad )
Then she started looking for the Best Game Ever.
Then she got an email back!
Dear Nadia )
Dear Dad )
Nadia frowned at the screen. She didn't need a writing class. She was a good writer.
Ooo! A link! She clicked it!
. . .
Best. Idea. Ever!
