Fourth floor common room: Monday morning

Karal had been up since before dawn (but not Dawn, he had no idea when she got up), and now he was relaxing in the common room with a cup of tea, some toast, and a number of books piled on the table in front of him. He also had a notebook, in which he was diligently writing.

Yes, he was preparing for his first class. Yes, he was happy classes were starting again. Yes, he might be a little strange.

Altra was draped over the back of the couch, watching Animal Planet. A special on big cats, to be precise. He didn't look impressed.

Roof, Monday night

The dorms, they were full of people. Cass? Wasn't so good around people.

Besides, knowing that you were supposed to sleep in room 212 when you were illiterate just wasn't that useful. So Cass fled to the roof, where it was quiet and peaceful. She'd slept outside plenty of times over the preceding months, and she could always find her room in the morning.

After finding an out-of-the-way corner of the roof, Cass tossed her backpack down and laid back with her head pillowed on it. Not sleeping, just thinking. Of all the things she had planned for, wandering into town and ending up enrolled in school wasn't one of them.
