Karal was sitting one the fence, watching Trenor graze, wandering right to the end of the leadrope. The horse had been groomed until he glistened, and his tack was sitting next to him on the fence.

Karal wanted to see if John could tack up properly before he let him ride Trenor.

Which was why he was on the couch in the common room, flipping through channels looking for the game. Well, a game. Any game.

Then he paused. This looked interesting.

Grinning, he settled in to watch.

Yesterday had been First Contact Day, which was not a big deal since first contact wouldn't happen for another fifty years or so. Still, it was a holiday back home, and Hoshi felt the need to commemorate it.

So she made cheese and mushroom pierogies and a pitcher of margaritas (non-alcoholic, of course) in case anyone else felt like celebrating with her. There was also a fresh-baked coconut cake and Hoshi was just getting ready to put the icing on it.
