Cal had slept in for three reasons: the first was simply that it was a Saturday, the second was because yesterday had been a very long day, and the third was because he had trouble sleeping anyway. It was being in a new place, with a lot of new people, in an entirely new situation. He was used to it, of course, so he was used to losing sleep over it at first.

Besides, it was nothing a little coffee couldn't fix. He rubbed the back of his neck as he drifted down the hall and into the room with the couches and the TV and the kitchenette and started rummaging around for what he needed.

While...trying not to step on the tortoises.

Wait...

Cal frowned at the little golden tortoises swarming at his feet right now.

Hopefully that was something a little coffee could fix, too.

Gladys was going for a walk, because a morning constitutional was important for a healthy body and a healthy mind (never mind that her body was made of clay and her mind was a scroll of paper, covered in words). Or rather, she was attempting to go for a walk. So far, she had managed to get out of the front door.

"You Must Move, Small Tortoises." She was standing very still in the midst of a wave of tiny, golden tortoises. It was impossible for her to take so much as even a single step without crushing them, and it was important to be kind to animals.

She attempted to scoop them up and push them aside, but more just trundled in to fill the space, all looking up at her expectantly, and now she had two giant handfuls of wee tortoises. Her eyes flared slightly. "This Is Not Where You Are Supposed To Be."

Despite that, the ones in her hands looked very comfortable. Golems did tend to be on the warm side.

Hinata had meant to, over the course of the day, explore a bit of the grounds but she’d gotten side-tracked by unpacking and it wasn’t until the evening that she cautiously slipped out of her room and made her way silently down the hall to the common room on her floor.

She entered cautiously, mostly interested in the kitchen part of the room and unsure what to think of all the tortoises but they didn’t seem to be causing any problems, and so, she was perfectly happy to live and let live as it were.

Hinata wasn’t entirely sure why there were tortoises--who owned them?--but alright. And they certainly seemed interested in the rice she decided to make.

Hinata wasn’t sure that tortoises were supposed to want to eat rice either.

But alright. She'd just make extra.

"You still have to wait until it’s finished," she informed them, more at ease talking to animals than to people.
