There was excitement in the air. Okay, maybe that was just the mixture of Caroline's perfume and fresh baked cookies or just the scent of fresh permanent marker emanating from the sign adorning her table in the lobby.

Her purpose was the same as the words on the poster that had been glitter-fied at the KDG meeting:

SHOW OFF!
Sign up to perform in the Student Council Parent Weekend Recital!
When: SATURDAY EVENING
Where: The COMMUNITY CENTER

With a great big smile, Caroline was ready to do her Student Council duty and chat up anyone who looked in need of some persuasion to participate. Um, not that she was going to be using her special, vampiric talents to fill the sign up list. That would be bad, even if it would mean a seriously amazing show.

Hmm. Maybe she should just stick with the cookie bribe.

[The lobby is open! There is OCD!]

There were no cupcakes this week, because Petra hadn't gotten to them. There were, however, freshly made chocolate chip cookies, possibly even still warm if you got to them quickly enough, and milk and soda. There was plenty of room on the table for other snacks if anyone wanted to bring them, plus the jar was back, now with a glittery sign taped to it reading "Snack Fund!:)"

"Hey, guys!" Petra said. "So, business first: I was talking to Tony from the frat last week about maybe doing some events in collaboration with them and the sorority, like maybe a Halloween party? I told him I was down for it, but I want to hear your thoughts, too. So, what do you guys think about that? The frat does have a neverending pizza supply in its favor..."

"Moving on, this past weekend completely freaked me out, and nothing even happened to me, but I'm realizing that that's about me, not about anybody else and how they choose to react to something like that, and also that I really need to apologize to Rosella. So if you want to talk about that, we can, and we can talk about Parents' Weekend. I know that it might be tricky for some of you whose parents haven't been around and might not know certain things, or maybe you're not sure how it'll be when they're around. But just know that we are here for you, okay? I'm in room 511, and if you need to hide out for a while, or just to talk, you know, come on by. My parents aren't coming because plane tickets cost money, but, you know, enough about me. I'd like to open the floor and if you want to talk about this stuff or anything else, great."

Rapunzel was feeling pretty good this morning, and as part of that she was trying to get back into a regular routine. She'd gotten up early, tidied up her room, and almost immediately headed to the common room where she'd made a huge batch of muffins.

And now that said muffins were in the oven (and smelled positively delicious as they were baking!) Rapunzel had a moment to sit down and brush her hair. A few moments.

A lot of moments.

This could take a while.

Topher was sitting on top of a laundry machine, flicking buttons and knobs while someone else's laundry was getting washed. It was a fairly simple mechanism, as far as he could tell. Not too complicated or anything. Of course, he'd never tried to use one. He wasn't particularly bothered with the idea of interrupting the cycle of whoever's clothes were being washed, because this was all in the name of science and it therefore trumped personal clothes-having. Naturally.

Hmm. What would happen if he changed it from whites to colors? Well, only one way to find out, he guessed.

On the machine next to him, he'd laid out a series of fairly meticulously folded clothes. And one girl's shirt that did not belong to him and had a curious stain on it. You... probably didn't want to know what that was about.

No, really. You didn't.

[[Topher's here for Ben, but it's an open laundry room! And if you want it to be your character's clothes that he's messing up, that is all the funnier! Clothes owner has been arranged!]]

It wasn't that Daenerys hadn't been thrilled when the raven had arrived bearing Ser Jorah's acceptance of her invitation to visit this weekend. She was happy, even if none of her bloodriders would be accompanying him -- someone had to stay with what was left of the khalasar, after all.

No, her sudden feeling of dread stemmed from the message she'd retrieved from her voice...thing, once she'd gotten it to work. The Imp had promised to keep his brother away from her, but now she needed to maintain distance between Ser Jorah and not just an easily-lost halfman, but the Kingslayer himself. It was a far less easy task, and Dany was left to fret as to how to manage it.

For now, though, she had taken the dragons out to her common area, tucking her legs up beside her on the couch as the three found places on the floor to entertain themselves. She kept an eye on them -- she really didn't want to have to put out any fires -- but meanwhile took to learning how to operate the large device in the room. She knew it was like a small play on a screen, having seen others use it, but the question of making it work was daunting. After pressing a few of the small protrusions on the box, she managed to make it come to hissing, grainy life. Then there were waving lines, with another press. Then a screen of simple blue.

Dany sat before the television, holding the little black rectangle in her hand, and began to try to read what the different buttons meant. Maybe she was missing something simple.

[ah, ye olde 'figuring out the tv' common room. open like crazy, save me from boredom and Dany from static, pls.]
