5th floor common room, Tuesday afternoon

Lottie wandered into the common room in her ratman pjs, hair poofed out sideways, eyes still more than half closed. It was too early. It was barely afternoon. But she'd woken up with her stomach growling, so now here she was, in search of delicious breakfast foods.

She opened the pantry and blinked at the plate of cheerful, aromatic holiday cookies sitting on the shelf. "I was hopin for sausages," she told Pepper, who'd trotted into the room after her. "But I suppose cookies will do me in a pinch."

Pepper barked.

"Yes," Lottie agreed seriously. "We will need milk as well."

She opened the fridge, only to find another plate of cookies. And another in the cupboard next to the fridge. And another in the next cupboard over. And another, to her dawning horror, behind every single door she opened in the common room. (And another in the hallway when she'd opened her dorm room door, but she'd managed to walk right over that one without noticing.)

"It's the fat banshee!" She slammed the last cupboard shut and threw herself dramatically onto the common room couch, pulling a throw blanket over her shoulders and peering suspiciously at all the doors in the room. "The fat banshee's found me!"

Pepper yipped at her, then hopped up onto the couch, turned around three times on the cushion next to her, and settled in for a nap.

"Fat banshee."
