Dorm Roof, Tuesday Morning

faithseesredYesterday's class left Faith feeling -- frazzled.
Given all the crazy stunts she pulled, she found it easier not to think about the risk of death. The helpless, panicked, fighting-her-own-lungs-for-breath feeling she got when her footwork was wrong and she thought she was about to fall to her death was easily the worst feeling she ever felt, and the only way she could keep running after enduring one of those horrible moments was if she put the possibility of ever feeling that way again completely out of her mind.
The problem was, actually talking about dying made that stupid feeling harder to shake, and the only way she could banish it from her mind was with a distraction. Normally a run worked great as one of those, but given just what exactly she needed distracting from, she was having a hard time motivating herself to run today.
She stood on the dorm roof and gazed out at the view, arms crossed over her chest. She really hated high school.
