Shooting Range, Friday morning

justice_undoneHer current body had been connected shortly before her destruction, and had never been in a situation where she had had to use firearms. Breq didn't think it would be a problem, but it was a good reason to go to the shooting range for some gun practice, especially if there was going to be an invasion eventually.
She opened the weapons locker and looked at what was available.
Shooting was also a good way to get rid of some of that anger that was always there under the surface. No, not get rid of it, more like briefly letting it show, and in an appropriate and hopefully satisfactory way. Breq picked up one of the guns, found the ammunition that went with it and loaded the weapon, then grabbed a pair of hearing protectors and headed towards the range itself.
Ancillary soldiers were feared for good reasons, and Breq quickly found that this body had no problems in using a gun the way she was used to. Setting the targets to moving from the start, she hit them easily. There was really not much need for practice, but that still left her other reason for coming here.
It was an easy thing to do, to imagine a face on each target, the face of someone she had actually shot once. That had just been one body of thousands though. There was no way she was going to be able to kill them all, or even one more of them. Even getting a gun undetected on to a station would be impossible, not to mention getting close enough to the Lord of the Radch.
So she fired on the target, reloaded, and fired again. It was a lot less satisfactory than she had hoped it would be.
