Fourth Floor Common Room -- early afternoon

Dean was in the kitchen area, finally cooking up the meal he'd promised Sammy he'd make a while ago. If nothing else, the events of the past week seemed to have worked as a kick in the ass to actually do some of the things he'd been meaning to get around to.

Knowing that food tended to attract people here, he was deliberately making a lot more of the macoroni and cheese than he and Sammy could eat. At worst it would mean there'd be leftovers in the fridge, but Dean really didn't think he'd have to worry too much about that.

[The Roof, Sunday Night]

Alec took a sip from his water bottle and adjusted his balance on the edge of the roof. Maybe it wasn't a great idea, standing where it'd be entirely too easy to be pushed off the roof or fall if you shifted too fast, but Alec was never all that bothered by what most would call "common sense".

Seeing as how he was kinda drifting in his thoughts, it'd be entirely too easy to surprise him right now.

Fifth floor common room - Sunday evening

There was a dead bird in her room. Somehow it had got in through the open window and then, when trying to get out, it had flown against the glass pane. Its neck had broken, and now it lay on the floor in front of the window, its unseeing eyes still half open. Those eyes had looked up at River, and she had slowly backed away. Berthold had remained silent and still under Buffy's bed, as if he too felt the presence of death in the room.

She couldn't stay there. Quickly tugging the corner of her duvet, River had pulled it of her bed and headed for the common room. There she had curled up on the couch, and pulled the duvet over her, almost covering her face. She lay completely still, working on getting the vacant stare of the dead bird out of her mind.
