endsthegame: (is just sitting)

If the radio was something to be believed, common rooms were a focal point of activity here. Ender had heard of people meeting, talking, forging friendships and forming their own groups up here, until they pulled back to the privacy of their own rooms.

For now, he didn't really feel like mingling. He didn't know how long he was to stay here, or why, except that they didn't want him on Earth back home and they taught classes here on things he'd never really thought about before. Or hadn't wanted to think about.

But if he wanted to grasp the rules of the school, he'd have to see it for himself. He didn't expect to spend a lot of time here, but it was still important to know: and so, quietly, unobtrusively, Ender made his way into the second floor common room in the morning, working the television remote until he found some history documentary on this time's previous century.

Hoshi had a spread of Japanese dishes in the common room, including beef teriyaki, various types of sushi and lots of little pink rice cakes. There was also a delicious-looking cake. What Hoshi didn't bother with were any sort of decorations. It would be hard to tell that this was all for her birthday.

[Open to all! Minor OCD coming is up.]

Adah had, of course, seen the posters that had advertised a bit of a party tonight so she figured...or rather, she hoped...that a significant amount of the student body would be interested in attending and she could take a rare moment to step outside of her room, enjoy some space that wasn't the same four walls she usually looked at, and still avoid being disturbed. Let Pride disappear beneath the chairs as he liked to do in the common room as she sprawled comfortably on the couch.

She flipped through a few channels before remember that television usually hurt her head and wasn't terribly interesting anyway, and then tilted her head back against the armrest of the sofa, glancing up at the ceiling, examining the paint job, running through mathematical equations and theorems in her head, and fondly thinking of Streptococcus pyogenes.
