The construction workers were back out working on the new deck and campfire area, not whistling while they worked.

They would have been whistling if they hadn't been working around pirates and their clinking swords. The deck was taking shape now and the pirates were taking advantage of that by jumping off the deck and landing in very dramatic poses.

The constructions workers were mostly oblivious but they did seem to have an uncanny knack for ducking and getting out of the way right before a sword was swung in their direction.

[Again, feel free to have your character react to the noise and construction. The deck will be completed tomorrow!]

One day, perhaps, Viki would discover that the common rooms were really better left alone than have them suffer through her curiosity.

Today, however, was not that day and she bumbled in, ignoring the Box of Illusions, and much more interested tonight in the kitchen bit. It was late, she was hungry, and… Viki came very quickly to the conclusion that she didn’t recognize most of the appliances beyond the simple ones like ‘stove’ and ‘fridge’.

It was the blender that caught her eye the most though. Not that she knew that it was called that, but Viki (with some fumbling) managed to plug it into the wires-that-came-from-trees, and after that it was a simple matter of pushing at buttons before it whirred to life.

Green eyes bright with excitement—what was it, what did it do, was this another Illusion Box of a different sort?—she peered in at the empty blender and began attempting to figure out the settings. How did it work? Why? What purpose did it serve other than to make rather unfortunate noises?

Eventually she might even figure out that food went in it. Eventually. Unless there was a dreadful accident first. She took the lid off the blender and peeked down at the blades whirring. How fascinating!

And the whirring continued. She'd be here a while.

It was strange being back in Fandom, even after almost two weeks since his return. He'd not been getting out much, really, so it felt good to get up to the roof.

He pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, the first pack he'd bought in the past... Well, quite a long time. He usually didn't smoke alone, but something about the night just begged for one. So he opened the pack, slicing open the plastic cover with a fingernail (he really needed to get those cut), and tapped out one cigarette.

The spell to light it was easy enough -- calling heat was almost rudimentary, and, really, took almost less energy than pulling out a lighter, or striking a match. Breathing in, he let the smoke fill his lungs, and then released it with a sigh.

[Open like a roof, for anyone who'd have any reason to be up here! :D ]

His evenings were quiet. All of his days were quiet in one way or another-- but the evening bode him a special kind of escape, and Ender liked to spend it here, in the pool, water rushing past his ears as he dove in and in again.

Just for a few seconds, he could hold still under water, be utterly weightless and beautiful; but then the very idea of what that meant escaped him, and his lungs ached for air, and he struggled back to the surface.

After a while, he sought simply to drift. The next dive would come soon enough. Now, he could pretend he was weightless in full, and he didn't even have to fight the water.

[ open like a pool area, but might be switching to SP in a little while ]
