Despite the pool being just a few floors down from his room, Jonas hadn't yet made his way down here. For one, he knew the very basics of swimming and for two, well, he was shy. Still, coming to find the pool empty for the moment meant it was a little easier to get out of his shirt and step into the pool.

The water was warm enough and Jonas waded in till it hit the top of his chest. Swimming wasn't needed when he was tall enough to touch the bottom. For now, that was as far as he'd go. He had time to do more if he felt confident enough. He splashed some water on his face and then ducked down enough to get his hair wet.

It was a relatively new experience for him. There hadn't been much time for swimming back in the Community. Time was spent learning or volunteering. Recreational time was limited and tended to be spent playing games that made Jonas' stomach turn when he thought about them now.

New year, new experiences. Jonas hoped to have a lot of them.

Arthur had made sure to set up behind the dorms with a reasonable level of visibility. It was, after all, the first meeting since the welcome picnic, and they had to make themselves obvious to the newbies should one or two be drawn to the gathering.

"Good afternoon, people. I am Arthur Pendragon, and these are Zack Fair and Leto Atreides."

He had even let Zack supply the cookies this time. He figured it wouldn't hurt to charm a few, either.

"For those of you who have only just arrived on Fandom, welcome to the Fighting Reserves. Here is where we practice and plan for any invasions with the help of sinew, steel, and other materials from worlds beyond our ken. If you're looking for another way to contribute, Magic Reserves meets on Monday in the Preserve, and Support Services meets on Friday in the park."

That, apparently, were the administrative messages.

"Now, this is the week of the introduction, as most of you know. So if you're new, or you'd like to give the newcomers an update on your abilities, please, let us know who you are and what you can do. Everyone else," and he rubbed his hands as he considered the area severely, "please share your experiences with Fandom invasions, how we handled them, and maybe one or two ideas about how to better handle them next time round."

"Newbies," he continued, "Please keep in mind that the island likes to keep us on our toes, so whatever has invaded in the past will likely not be what invades next. That doesn't mean we can't prepare. Now, get to it."

Antsy. That was maybe the best way to describe how Warren had been, yesterday, today, waiting for his first actual class while trying to get his head wrapped around what he'd pretty much accepted as 'as normal as things are going to get.'

He'd made his way to the edge of the roof, looking out over the island as the sun set and the lights in the town slowly started to flicker on. This place was nothing like New York. And at the moment, that was probably the biggest relief that he was going to get.

He straightened his coat, turning his gaze out toward the other corners of the island, and for a moment he couldn't help but be seriously tempted to just pull it off, give his wings a good stretch, and jump. There was a sort of freedom to free-fall, and an exhilaration in catching himself again entirely too close to the ground. A guy could get addicted to it.

To flying.

But for now? For now, he'd content himself to the view. It wasn't half bad, even if it wasn't New York.

Hayley Fitzpatrick was baking again. This time, she was making a cake. A cake that apparently caused a minor flour explosion and more than a few broken eggs on the ground when she'd attempted to juggle them.

Hayley was not a trained juggler, no. But she found that she was able to catch onto the basic idea pretty fast.

But now, she was shoving her chocolate concoction into the oven, and staring at the mess about her.

"...I wonder if I can get away with not cleanin' this," she said, wiping her hands on her jeans. She... looked quite the mess, with chocolate, flour and the like spattered on her white t-shirt, jeans, and exposed skin.

So instead of cleaning up, she went to go sit down and watch some TV. She found an episode of Bitter Woman on and decided to watch.
