"This week," Arthur began, "I have made the colossal mistake of mentioning, in passing, the idea of a joust to my co-leader. I would not normally disparage his choices, but today, I disavow myself from all activities."

That was a nice, capable, strong lead-in, right? "Or at least disavow the usage of the word 'joust'." He did have a sense of humor, after all. Sort of. Hannibal.

oh, time related misunderstandings! )

There was a window of time between waking up, early morning training, school, more training, frat, and radio in the evenings. Sure, it was a relatively small window of time, but Arthur didn't see why he shouldn't make use of it by doing something useful.

Like reading more ancient French science fiction - something by Louis Boussenard, to be exact. Something about ice this time. It was fairly thrilling.

Uncharacteristically, though, he had grown tired enough of the silence in his room to take it outside into the common room. God forbid what disturbances that might drag up, but at least he wouldn't have to deal with the... ceiling.

Yes.

Whatever, he could do as he liked.

Close enough to spring and being almost warm, that enjoying being outside didn't seem as crazy as it might've done just a week or two ago. Something Effy was going to take advantage of since she didn't have classes, or anything much else to be doing today. So she was stretched out on one of those loungers, just her and her cigarette and a water bottle, lazily enjoying the peace of the afternoon. If she was back home there'd probably be endless grey as she looked up, seeing the crystal blue was... nice. She'd admit that.

Considering how much last weekend had knocked her off, and how comparatively relaxed she was feeling today you could probably bet good money that whatever was in that water bottle was not water.

Trying to figure out how to precisely report what she'd been up to in the last few weeks was dull enough (and difficult enough—Hinata was entirely certain that her father would not believe that she'd spent a weekend only a few inches tall and rather painfully dim) and Hinata was feeling social enough to wander out to the common room.

The television got turned on, if only for the noise, and Hinata settled down with a book to read. Only to pause and reach under the cushion of the couch and pull out a crayon.

Laughing softly, she set the crayon in her lap and went back to her book.

… Yes, this counted as being social for Hinata. Baby steps here. At least she was out of her room?

[Open as common rooms are!]
