The weather was favorable, and so was Robin's mood. So it was time for his grand adventure experiment.

He was either going to fly, or plummet. Hopefully if it was the latter he wouldn't break the kite. He wanted to try more than once.

After opening the package and assembling the kite, Robin grabbed hold of the struts and hopped up on the ledge at the edge of the roof. The kite looked like big white wings. The tiny frog looked at the sky beyond the dorms.

This was gonna be great!

When the reservists met behind the dorms that afternoon, there was a conspicuous absence of a Kennedy, a conspicuous offness of a Zack, and, just to seal the bit where this was a meeting vastly out of the ordinary, a Jak up front. "So we, uh, got attacked last week," Jak began. For possibly the first time, he looked utterly out of his depth. "And we kicked some pretty good ass."

There was a slight silence, as if he expected someone to interrupt him at any moment. When it didn't happen, he continued.

"But next time anything like these guys shows up, we might have to kick even more ass. Maybe we didn't do it in the right way, maybe in some places we weren't organised enough. If you have something to bit-- share about what went, uh, wrong last week, step up and let us know."

Another one of those silences. Still, nobody interrupted.

"And it's probably a good idea to share ass-kicking stories. You might learn something. Good work working together on the asskicking," especially considering Jak's contribution had been to run off after the meeting and spend the entire weekend shooting things all by himself afterwards, "Keep up the teamwork, and, uh. Discuss. C'mon. You've all got to know better ways to blow stuff up than we used this time."

Inspiring, Jak. Inspiring.

"Or," Zack added, speaking up mostly because he was in no hurry to see the island go up in flames after any Jak speech in particular, "to take things down."

"Yeah. Sure. If you want them to get back up," said Jak. Dubiously. More than a little. With a slight undertone of 'don't be a wimp'. "But you heard us. Get chatting."
