Wasn't it refreshing to be having today's Reserves meeting outside? Outside in the sunshine, with the trees turning and the soft tickle of pollen on the breeze?

"Hey, guys!" Really, it wasn't possible for Zack to get much more antsy than he usually was, was it? "Today we're going to cover some more physical drills, working on hand-to-hand combat. There are plenty of techniques to choose from, from speed-based martial arts to strength-based grappling, and they all have their benefits. If you don't know your fighting style, that's fine! You can partner off and practise today, after Maladicta and Kennedy give us a quick demonstration!"

This couldn't possibly go wrong!

Of course not! Why would there be anything wrong with two girls demonstrating hand-to-hand combat techniques? Other than... oh dear. Was that mud on the ground in that only patch that was in the shade and therefore safe for Maladicta to, oh, do anything in?

"One of the most important things to remember is that there will always be someone stronger or more skilled than you," Maladicta said, taking off her jacket so it wouldn't get mussed. Even though, being a vampire, it would only serve to enhance the look. "Kennedy has more training than I have, for instance."

"And Maladicta's stronger than I am," added Kennedy, shrugging her hoodie off, and exercising an amazing amount of discretion in just leaving the explanation at that. "So she's got one kinda edge over me, I have another over her..." Wow, Kennedy, pick less picturesque prepositions. "Anyway, it's a whole thing."

She was all distracted, and words were all... evasive. "So screw the explanations, let's just go for it. Also, since this might get messy today?" She eyed the patch of mud. "Not that we're keeping score, but you might be, so bonus points to you if you partner up with someone for cleanup afterward. 'cause... fun."

Which meant this was the best time for Maladicta to tackle Kennedy into that mud. It ended up less 'graceful predator' and more 'Girls Gone Wild', unfortunately. Okay, not so unfortunate at all for most people watching.

And Zack... Zack was going to just stare.

"So, uh... get to it, guys?"

The last time this had happened, Ender had attempted to recluse himself - had believed he could actively hide from something like this. He'd been wrong, and his resolve with regards to Ben had nearly cracked that day. Nevermind the fact that some aphrodesiacs could as easily turn you violent as amorous.

He needed a way to channel his energy.

And so Tuesday morning found him running the treadmill obsessively, his iPod running. Listening to modern music, as well as twin files Valentine had sent him after he'd let her know about the recurrence of the singing - one familiar, one not, but both Val's voice. It calmed him, settling some of the restlessness that curled, relentlessly, in his stomach.

He'd have to keep himself exhausted all week. He was doing fine in getting there, today.

Considering how he was still feeling, Alex decided to try some fresh, crisp air. He hadn't been up to the roof in awhile and he hoped that the chilliness would help clear his head and make him a little less likely to jump the first hot girl he saw.

He wandered over to the roof's ledge and pulled his jacket around him tighter before he lit his first (of what would be many) cigarettes. It was a little harder to deal with all this with a new, tiny roommate. He couldn't hit walls or throw things or drink or anything too bad with a kid who looked like he wasn't even eleven in there.

So, he'd stay here and smoke what would probably become an entire pack of cigarettes. Maybe he'd take a cold shower. Or maybe he'd just go find someone that could help. Man, this fucking island.

[The roof's open, sure]

Bruce was getting annoyed. He figured the extra energy and twitchiness was just an unexpected reaction to attempting a normal relationship. And he appreciated all of that yesterday. But then it was still there when he woke up this morning after a very good, ahem, workout last night. His morning run didn't help him get rid of those feelings. Neither did Parkour Club. Any attempts at meditation were quickly interrupted by the kind of thoughts that made it tough to remain at peace.

His last resort for the day was to get in the gym and pick on a punching bag that had never done anything to him and quite frankly didn't deserve the treatment Bruce was going to give it. He was going to punch it a lot until he really wore himself out. Poor punching bag.
