Today's reserves meeting? Was so totally starting off indoors today. The leaders had set up a table with hot chocolate and hot coffee (the water had been heated in one of those convenient fireplaces that had appeared) in the lobby of the dorms. Because, really, who wanted to be out in that?

Crazy people, that was who!

"Heya, guys!" Crazy people like Zack, who was standing there with his usual short-sleeved attire, grinning at the people gathered. "I guess you've probably all noticed the weather, huh?" And the cold. Yes, Zack. "Stuff like this doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's important to know how to handle ourselves in it. Dealing with problems that crop up in inclement weather like this might seem like a Support job at a glance, but if something hits the island, we're the ones that have to be out there in it, so we really have to know how to prepare ourselves for the worst, when the worst has muck like this falling from the sky to help it along."

Well someone here was used to no electricity, so this was hardly a blip on the radar of ohdeargodswhy. Maladicta shot Zack and his short sleeves a look before continuing on with the discussion. "Being able to defend against attack in the most extreme of conditions are something you all should learn to do. Consider this a dry run in case yetis attack."

Yes, yetis. Or even worse... Time monks.

Kennedy had probably read something about time monks in one of her Watcher's books. Or maybe it was demon monks. Whatever; all that stuff sort of ran together for her after a while. Anyway, she definitely didn't look like she was up to her usual mood standards today, but dammit, she was trying. So... basically, she was all serious-face. "Especially if you're not used to fighting in snow," she put in. "From a world without it, or the wrong climate, or whatever. It'll mess up your footing, for one, and you're gonna have to figure out how to keep warm and stay mobile enough to be effective." Unless you were Zack and didn't believe in sleeves. Or Gabrielle, or something.

"So, if you guys aren't already dressed for it," et tu, Zack? "then go and grab your winter gear and pull it on! It might still be snowing like crazy out there, but that's what the hot chocolate and coffee is for! We? Are totally going to have a snowball fight!"

Yes. He did pose when he said that. Would you expect any less?

Quinn woke up shivering under a blanket on the couch. It was freezing, and she was pretty sure that fireplace hadn't been there when she fell asleep. She was going to have a stern talk with the weather gods about the quick-change act.

She stood up groggily, blanket around her like a cape, and decided to try to make coffee. She'd be less cold if she moved, right?

And then she realized the power was out, and there was no way to make coffee without power.

She could already tell this was not going to be her favorite day.

[OOC: Open to anybody who fell asleep upstairs last night! Or anyone who wanders up. I'm not fussy.]

It was cold and the power was out. That could only mean one thing for Claudia -- time to hit the common room kitchen and try to make her homemade chemical heat packs again.

What else was a girl to do after classes on a quiet, cold, central-heating-free afternoon? Cuddle up beside the fire with hot cocoa? Please.

[ooc: as open as a common room could be.]

Katniss was not exactly the sort to fuss over her appearance. Ever. But even she knew that a blizzard added to spending time with a boy (not that there was anything to that! Just spending time! With a boy! Who perhaps she liked, maybe, a little.) meant that fashion was a tricky business. She toyed with the idea of wearing something Cinna had sent, but in the end, she picked a longer shirt and comfortable pants -- a very Katniss outfit. The only thing that she did, that Cinna might have approved of, was that she left her hair down and out of its braid. She didn't dress it more than that, but even this much was far more neurotic than she'd ever been picking out clothes.

And since they'd planned to go out somewhere, with food, and that was clearly not an option, Katniss had raided the common room pantry. And such, her contribution to this meal was...Oreos. And some peanut butter. Hopefully that would be good enough. There was a fireplace, anyway, and she'd curled up near it to keep warm. She could have been happy enough going out, but she didn't think the island was of the hardy stock that she and Wesley boasted (or pretended at), and there wasn't likely to be many places open, anyway.

So she settled in to wait for Wesley, mentally rehearsing things that she definitely didn't want to talk about: the Tour, Peeta, the future, Panem in general....

[Katniss is here for Wesley omgggggggg, but common rooms are open!]
