The gym [oh-my-God WHY o'clock in the morning]

With the new change in time, Ben had beaten the sun out of bed in the morning and gone for his run before heading down to the gym to wait for Ender.

He stretched out on the mats and began warming up his arms and shoulders, today in a short-sleeved t-shirt he'd bought in Hawaii.

It was, shockingly, not black. It had taken him all week to find one without flowers on it.

Magic Reserves, The Preserve, Wednesday Afternoon

Today when the Magic Reserves met in the Preserve, they would notice that there were trees on either side of the field festooned with pink and green streamers. They were the streamers that had marked the path for the sorority's run through town yesterday and Karla had seen no reason to let them go to waste.

"Kiss kiss," she said, after everyone had arrived. "Today we're going to work off some of our excess energy by playing British Bulldog--with a Fandom twist, of course." Pointing at the areas marked off, Karla explained, "That's home base. Your job is to get from the home base at one end of the field to the home base at the other. You're safe when you're there. However, as you're running, there are others people--bulldogs--who are going to try to catch you. If they catch you, you become a bulldog, too."

"The last person standing wins," Tara explained, still cheerful from her mother's visit. A game felt like a good way to spend the meeting. "And if you can shield, try to shield some of the people who can't. It helps slow the bulldogs down. And it's just nice."

"And sometimes if we wind up in a battle, it might be important to get someone who can't fight to the other side," Dolf added, always happy to drag things down by pointing out about attackers and death and stuff. "So see it as good practice for the next time something goes wrong. ...And if you are a bulldog, try not to hurt anyone, this is just for training."

"I understand this game is often fraught with injuries," Raven said. Because she would worry about that. "But if anyone is hurt, I will be happy to heal you."

"So, there we are," Karla said cheerfully. She pointed at a few people in the crowd. "You lot are bulldogs, everyone else head to home base. Let's go!"

Cheerleading Practice // The Gym // Wednesday after classes

Harper laid out the mats very carefully today because she had some ambitious plans and the squad would need all the padded surfaces they could get. "We're going to do toe touch drills today," she announced as the rest of squad gathered. "Now, this is a pretty advanced jump and if you can't do them right away, that's fine. With some practice, you should be able to build up to doing an actual toe touch."

And knowing the limit of her own abilities, Harper made sure to bring a cooler full of ice packs for any possible injuries. She was really hoping that the ice would not be needed.

Woohoo! There was a Muppet Marathon on TV tonight! Robin had handwavily spread the word, and then ordered pizza. He'd also taken several trips to get drinks and snacks up here.

Then he settled in for a night of vegging and enjoying such goodies as Wild Bird Chase, Land Down Under, The Muppet Movie, The Muppet Show, The Muppet 30th Anniversary, and of course Robin's personal favorite, The Prince Who Was a Frog.
