Behind the Dorms, Tuesday Afternoon

"Afternoon, reservists," Arthur started, most of his idle attention set more on his quarterstaff than the group. "Two matters today. First of all, we're going to discuss the different uses of our weapons on the two sections of the island. Second of all..." He cast a look across the crowd, "Mat is either going to show us how to wield a quarterstaff properly, or get his backside thoroughly trounced. Let's wait and see how that goes, eh?"

He gave the staff a solid twirl. "As you know, the newer section of the island is a lot more open than the narrow streets of the old," he said, "Which means our tactics must vary based on which end. The old part of town is more defensible than the new; the new allows for too much space for others to come at us, while we could feasibly barricade ourselves in the old for a nearly unlimited amount of time."

Another flip of the quarterstaff. "On the new, we have the advantage of greater visibility, and those of us who use weapons of greater range might find it easier to cope. There are many possibilities; I'd like you all to discuss and offer your views on the use of our space. Taking into account that the causeway is directly connected to the old end."

He let one end of the staff hit the ground, perching against it. "Also, if any of you still feel like demonstrating, you know where to find us. Mat? You're up."

The last couple weeks, Bobby had kept mostly to himself, not feeling his usual social self. Having a robo-baby to take care of had actually sort of helped with that, in so far as it'd given him something to keep busy with.

With his birthday coming up tomorrow, though, he figured now was as good a time as any to try and turn his mood around, so he had a pile of sugary junk food in the common room and was watching some special about monkeys on television.
