Claire didn't have a class today until 6th period, so she was taking advantage of the downtime to sit at the campfire and enjoy some peace and quiet. Not that she had a fire going. It was just nice to sit outside.

She did have a glass of juice and some pop-tarts though and spectulated on the concept of toasting pop-tarts over an open fire.

[open to all, as campfires are. even ones that don't have actual fire :D]

One thing Jon loved about camping, was cooking outdoors. And he really wasn't in the mood for sandwiches and stuff for lunch, so after his morning class, Jon had stopped by the Kwik Stop and bought several packages of hot dogs and buns and a cooler to dump everything in. When he got back to the cabin, Jon started up the campfire and got to work on roasting the hot dogs. Not all at once, mind you, but he did remember to put a rather small sign on the front of the cabin (made out of notebook paper and marker) that said 'Free Lunch'.

Moving to the cabins had been entirely unexpected and somewhat distressing for Raven. She had been prepared to share her room with another, but so many people so close together was disconcerting, and it was hard to shut things out. Last night she'd felt an almost overwhelming surge of desire coming from one of the other cabins, but fortunately it abruptly stopped.

She didn't have any classes on Tuesday, and after her morning meditations, she ventured into the common room to see who else might be dwelling there.

Priestly was dressed for running rather than for shock value, so his hair was down and pulled back in a Sokka-ish ponytail, and he was wearing an unusually plain t-shirt.

What? He could be functional in his style, too.

All he needed now was his running partner, and he'd be set to start getting back into shape.

[ooc: for the running partner, but open before she gets here]

Arthur'd left a message to all about the change in location for today's drill, last week. He was in something of a better mood, although yesterday's spar with Lady Elspeth had knocked him back down to a normal grouch. At least he no longer looked like he was contemplating murdering his co-conspirator.

He didn't start speaking until he was fairly sure they'd gotten their haul of people for the day. "Today, we begin to work with our terrain," he announced, "And each other. You all have vastly different skills and powers at your disposal; now's the time to share them. You'll be venturing out to different defensible locations, spread over the seaside to your right," he nodded, "the Rocky Bits at your left," another nod, "And the ground you're standing on. Pick one, and set up a plan to make it defensible."

After a quick glance at Arthur, to make sure he had finished, Leto continued: "And after having made your own strategy for defense, some research will help you develop it. Find examples from various points in history of successfull defense of a geographic location similar to the one you chose and write a short report on your own conclusions."

[Wait for OCD! OCD is up!]

Amber was roasting a hot dog and drinking beer. The latter she might have indulged in before the roasting began, but who cares? It was a nice night and she was going to enjoy it her way.

There was no singing going on here, just so you know.

[It's an open campfire, yep.]

Kenshin had had an interesting day. Interesting enough that the relative quiet and darkness of the rooftop was a relief. He sat with his back to the light of the campfires, and stared out into the night, emptying his mind, so that hopefully he could sleep. He wasn't worried about anyone sneaking up behind him; he would hear them before they got close enough to be a threat.

How long his solitude would remain solitude...

Well.

Savannah was cheerful as she started a campfire in front of her cabin. It had been a good day. She had enjoyed her SAT prep class -- best idea for a class, in her opinion. After class, she had drawn up her courage and auditioned for the new play. She thought she had done pretty well and now was kicking back in front of the cabin and people watching.

She had pulled out some sodas and anyone was welcome to grab one.

To say that Valentine's day had been interesting seemed a gross understatement. It had started with sentient books and ended with a haiku contest with a creature of unidentifiable species, and involved a very enthusiastic prince and sexuality somehow intermingled with talking object somewhere in between.

Valentine thought she could potentially go and visit one of the many campfires already surrounded by people, but....no. She was definitely done for the day. That was...quite enough for now.

She she was just going to tend to the fire outside her own cabin, poking and prodding at it and getting it going quite nicely, watching the way the flames consumed the wood and kindling, how the smoke drifted upwards and mingled in with the darkening sky.

[[ open campfire is open, of course, because there totes needs to be another one... ]]

Effy had spent most of the past four days avoiding people. Something that was probably a good move on her part, and for everyone, considering that she wasn't the most openly friendly sort to begin with, and that would really only be compounded by jetlag and getting sent away to this fucking place. Boring as Bristol was, she couldn't say this was somewhere she particularly wanted to be either.

A few days on, she'd begun to see the attraction of certain parts. In this case, the attraction of getting to sit out by a roaring fire, poke idly at the embers at the edge with a stick, and watch them glow and fizzle with the air.

This was actually not bad, and for the moment even quiet.

And occasionally, she sat back to swig from a plastic water bottle she was keeping away from the flames. Chances were, it didn't actually have water in it.

[[Open like a big open campfire.]]
