It was the first day of the summer semester and, like previous summers, it was time to kick off the senior project. This time, it was a little different. All seniors who had decided to work on the senior project had been notified handwavily to report to the sixth floor of the dorms. Upon arriving, they'd find a floor that looked generously smaller than most other floors and a big giant wall.

Fraser himself was wearing a hard hat and grinning.

"Good morning," Fraser said, nodding, "and welcome to this summer's senior project. I don't know how many of you have been up here but, if you haven't, welcome to the sixth floor. Once, this floor matched all the floors below it. Then, we had a situation were the sixth floor was pretty much destroyed. We're going to fix that. The sixth floor is going to be renovated and rebuilt. First of all, we need to do some cleanup and this wall needs to come down to see what's behind it. We're not going to worry about that today. Today, I want you all to go into the remaining open rooms and clean them. That means debris on the floor, on the walls, anywhere. We need this area to be clean before we began heavy construction."

He nodded towards the cleaning supplies and hard hats.

"This project is going to be run by myself and Professor Dex so, if you have questions, please see one of us. Yes, we do have plans for what's going up here but we'll reveal those in due time. The blueprints are still being drawn up so consider it a surprise for now."

With that said, Fraser tucked his hands behind his back and grinned.

"It's time to get to work."

[This is the senior project for those staying the summer but ANYONE is allowed to help if they'd like!]

After her Civil War Reenactment class (and seriously, what were her parents thinking with that one?), Joan decided to make lunch in the common room. Nothing fancy, just some sandwiches and cut up fruit, but she had spent the weekend hiding from the insanity of the new folks and figured it was time to get out and meet people.

Rather than put the TV on and deal with trashy talk shows or soap operas, Joan had the radio tuned to an 80s station and was bopping along to the music as she worked.

[open to new & old alike! sandwiches & fruit are totally moddable.]

There was a huge pile of stuff on the bed in alcove A1, because with a day free of classes, Francine had figured she might as well schlep her things over at a leisurely pace.

You know what wasn't in the huge pile of stuff on the bed in alcove A1? The marshmallows. Or the Hershey bars. Or the graham crackers.

Or Francine, because she was out by the campfire trying to get it started. Putting away her huge pile of stuff could wait. There were s'mores to be gobbled made.

It had been very, very, very good for Arthur's nerves - not that he ever had nerves, thank you - to come home to an empty dorm room last night. He hadn't known where Leto was, nor had he particularly cared, and instead he'd abused the new space to get a chance to breathe.

The last week had made a fine attempt to do his head in. Arthur was, of course, better than that, and when he arrived at the salle that morning he was feeling remarkably fresh for the first time in far too long.

Starting in on an intermediate drill, he took the time to enjoy the fact that his muscles were finally moving properly again. God help them all: Arthur was actually feeling chipper.

The only thing that interfered with that at all was the thought that he was, at some point, going to have to talk to Leto in a way that didn't involve shouting.

Jack had packed up his stuff to move over to the cabins; he was resting his feet on his duffel, still mentally kicking himself that he never met his Little Sibling.

Just ignore the sandwich he'd poached from the common room. It spoiled the introspective mood.

Since his first class was tomorrow, Alex decided to venture out of his cabins (seriously, CABINS) to the main campfire. He almost expected some counselor to already be there, guitar in hand, asking him to sing Kumbaya. Mercifully, the main campfire was devoid of anything but a few logs and the actual fire.

Alex took a seat and tossed his cigarettes next to him. He'd need those shortly, he was sure. For now, he was just going to enjoy the quiet and the mild weather.

He'd survived three days in this place so far. He was hesitant to call that a win.

There was a proper firepit! Of course this meant Merlin was outdoors, getting the fire going. Yes, even doing it the normal way.

Because he was simply far too excited for things that made sense again! If only a little bit.

Not that he wasn't fond of indoor plumbing, of course...

"Come on then," Merlin grumbled, blowing on the tiny, tiny embers he'd somehow--against all odds--had encouraged to spark to life.
