officetightass: (i'll let you believe that)

Angela wasn't blind. Or deaf. (To radio. Get your minds out of the gutter.) She recognized that when you were in a school with no parental supervision, people were going to be a little... looser than they normally would. That was a nice way of saying she thought most people in Fandom were probably hos. And then when yesterday's assembly went ahead and encouraged that kind of behavior, she thought it was about time to teach a little something about responsibility that the lecture hadn't.

So there'd been a trip to the mainland- because she was not getting caught buying these by squirrels- and then a trip to each of the girls' bathrooms to deliver a present of sorts. By the time she was done, every bathroom was prominently displaying a bulk pack of pregnancy test strips on the counter. She fully expected they'd all get used in a terrifyingly short amount of time.

At least she hadn't put them in the boys' bathrooms, too. Yet.

[I MIGHT'VE HAD THAT LINK BOOKMARKED FOR WEEKS LOOKING FOR A GOOD OPPORTUNITY. Tell me it's not awesome how they're marked like 75% off. Feel free to react, and Angela's catchable if you're up for some hardcore SP.]

As far as Sam was aware, everything was normal today, so he hoped that meant people would have an easier time at practice than last week. He got the mats out and turned on some appropriate music - nothing he'd listen to of his own volition, but the beat was good to work out to here.

After class, Andy grabbed some essentials and headed up to the roof for a good long think. It wasn't brooding, not really, even if that's entirely what it looked like.

And Andy was hoping that a joint or two would, if not make him forget his troubles, at least make them seem less important for a while. He was fully prepared to remain stoned for as long as it took for that to happen.

Mat had nothing to do on Wednesdays, which meant that he slept in until it was borderline criminal (and the yellow paint on the walls of his room gave him a headache), then poked around looking for something to entertain him.

Today he had settled on tossing dice in the third floor common room and hoping someone would come along who could cook for him. The burnt remains of what had been a package of bacon in the trash can--and the smoke in the room--would let people know how Mat's first attempt at fending for himself had worked out.

Merlin hadn't arrived yet, but it was time to get started. Karla, being properly female again, greeted the Reserves with a bright and cheerful smile today as they assembled in front of the dorms. "We're glad you all got our handwavey message about a change in location," she said. "We have a special activity in mind for everyone today." Her smile got a little broader. "It's high time the Reserves got to fend off an invasion, don't you think?"

Tony grinned, too. “So here it is – word comes in that we’re being invaded by trolls or zombies or giant insect gummy candies come to life. The fighter folks are on the other side of the island dealing with a clump of enemies there. We’ve got to defend the dorms. What do you do?”

Yum. Giant insect gummy candies. Karla knew how to deal with that threat.

"So, yeah, it's up to you guys to decide who does what, where, when and how," she continued. "The Support Reserves have turned the dorms into an infirmary, a child care station, and are researching the best way to defeat these things, so it's imperative none of the enemies get inside. Once you're done, Tony, Merlin--" if he showed up, and after seeing Francine in class today, Karla was starting to worry "--and I will test your defenses and see what happens. Do you save the dorms and be heroes? Or are we going to break in and devour the helpless in our giant gummy mandibles?"

Today Triela only had one, admittedly large, gun case out for today's demonstration.

"You're not going to get to use this one today because there's not really enough space, but I do want to give you a chance to see a sniper rifle. This is a Heckler and Koch PSG1. It's a sniper rifle designed primarily for medium range work. If you remember the battle rifle from last week, this one uses the same ammunition. The longer barrel and greater mass of the weapon give it greater accuracy."

"It's also semi-automatic, which means it's relatively rapid-firing. Semi-automatics aren't as accurate for a number or reasons, but they're perfectly good for medium range work. If anyone wants to take a look at it I'd be glad to let you get a feel for the weapon, but the range here is too short for a real demonstration."

"And that's it! You're welcome to work with any of the stuff we've talked about. Now get to it."

Sookie had gotten phone calls from both her grandmother and Tara earlier about the coming weekend. Gran had said she definitely wouldn't be able to come due to a recent storm taking out some pretty heavy damage on the house, so finances were limited. Tara had said she'd do what she could, but to expect a visitor no matter what. That was...cryptic and weird, but Sookie had kind of dismissed it as Tara being Tara.

In any case, to cheer herself up a little, she'd moved out to the common room and was whipping up a batch of chocolate-chip cookies. Partly because they made her feel better, and partly because she owed them to someone, so it'd be a good idea to have them on hand. She turned the TV onto Squee, because even if she couldn't sing, other kids could, and they'd make her happier. Plus, fake baby storylines were always amazing.
