Shilo had decided to celebrate a successful first day at work with a fire. So she'd found some kindling, an old newspaper, and matches, and was building a fire the same way that her father had taught her how to in the fireplace.

She didn't know if it worked the same way for a campfire, but she could only hope. Besides, it wasn't as if she was planning on this being someone's funeral pyre. Just a small campfire, and hopefully some company.

She suddenly wondered if she should have stopped for s'mores supplies.

Last night, Robin had gotten his Gremlin mask, and then ventured into the ventilation system in search of the Gremlins, armed with a note-pad.

This morning, the small fuzzy creature that emerged from the vents was not a talking frog. Well it was, but he didn't know that.

Dear Nephew, Traveling Matt wrote in his journal, I have just emerged from the strange shiny caves into a region of Outer Space that the Silly Creatures use as their nesting ground.

Savannah had mats pulled out and tables set up with refreshments. When everyone was there she leaned against one of the tables.

"Okay, so this is the last official weekly practice for a few weeks. I figure we could use the break since there are a lot of activities and changes that are coming up with graduation and new students and all of that. I do think we should have a couple of events happen this summer for the students and to make sure that we keep a good profile in the minds of the residents. But those meetings can be called at a later time. For now, let's chill out and have fun on our last official practice today."

She may have sounded a lot more cheerful than she actually felt.

Savannah was a very practical person. She knew how much fun the Gremlins were enjoying biting people and she hoped that enough people in one place would discourage the evil little things.

She had mats set up and refreshments for practice.

After making an appearance in class, Angela was in need of something to cleanse her mind of the zombie movie clips. With everything going on, watching all that just made her feel a little ill.

That was why the television was tuned firmly to Nickelodeon, for something silly and distracting.

She was clutching a mug of hot chocolate, and had that hockey stick she'd picked up lying across her lap. Better safe than... something else.

[[it's a common room, and it is open.]]

A hard day treasure hunting, and Angela... well, hadn't honestly come up with a whole lot of real treasure. She had Chuck's watch and a whole lot of candy she'd scavenged from various common rooms... That was really about it.

It was probably all that sugar that had her still bouncing, and she'd barely made her way through a fraction of it.

She'd moved her blanket fort from her room into the common room, and was dancing along to music all the while making use of the couches and all the cushions she could find to make it the best little blanket fort it could possibly be.

Be nice enough, and she might even share her sleepover space.

It had taken Jen a really, really, really long time to haul her wagonload of pizzas back to the dorms, and then there was the problem of carrying the pizzas up the stairs 'cause the wagon wouldn't go up the stairs. Well, it would but then the pizzas would fall!

But there was a safety clause in her plans for the day that amounted to "I'm small and I have short arms and it takes me a while to do things," so by the time Jen and a half dozen or so assorted, if not really all that hot any more, pizzas were comfortably settled in the fifth floor common room there was still an hour to spare before Racerranger started, yay!

Jen immediately set out all the pizzas in a neat line on the floor, then pulled all the cushions off the sofa and built herself a little fort. She was not losing the remote control for the TV to anyone, not today! She'd been waiting forever for Racerranger to start, and it had been a WHOLE WEEK since the first episode ran and she WANTED TO KNOW what was going to happen next.

So there was pizza, and Jen in a cushion-fort with the remote control, camped out in front of the TV. (A safe distance back, of course. But just exactly the minimum safe distance.)

[OOC: Might be slow while I get breakfast, but open! . . . I won't actually get to watch RPM until later due to errands.]

Robin had been working on the music video for awhile, teaching himself with the help of library books, and a tutorial or two. It was very simplistic, simply the recording he and his friends had made of Beatrice, and a montage of photos of her. But he was ultimately satisfied with it.

With a click of the mouse, he finished posting the file on youtube. Then he sat for awhile, pondering the fact that the video would not technically be seen until over a decade after Beatrice's death. Weird.

After class Lois was bored and had a craving for something sweet so she went to the common room to rifle through the fridge a bit to see what would come up. Eventually she settled on making root beer floats. They were easy enough to make and it was kind of hard to screw them up.

You could, however, add too much root beer to the glass so when you put in the ice cream it started overflowing everywhere. Which is exactly what Lois did.

"Holy crap!" Lois said, leaning down to drink up some of the float so it would stop overflowing. Then, figuring that it would be a shame to waste soda like that, leaned down to suck the root beer off the counter.

Lois Lane, ladies and gentleman.

Robin would not be going to class today. Instead, wrapped in a blanket and feasting on vegetarian chicken soup, the sniffling, coughing, and cold ridden frog was riding out his ailment in front of the television.

One nice thing about the timing though, there was a Muppet Show marathon on. At least he wouldn't be bored.

*ACHOO!*sniff* Stupid fire drill.

[Open. Robin promises not to get his germs on anyone.]
[identity profile] iruinenglish.livejournal.com
At 2 am exactly, a loud buzzing sound rang through the dorms. An not just any buzzing. A loud, obnoxious "BZZZT!" followed by a two-second pause, followed by another "BZZZT!", followed by another two-second pause, followed by a... You get the idea. And the really bad part was the way it tended to feel like it was inside your head when it "BZZZT"ed as you were passing by in the halls.

So due to the "BZZZT"ing and fire safety regulations, the students had to drag their tired, cranky selves out of bed (or whatever), make their way down the halls and stairwells, and file out onto the dorm lawn in the chilly, damp weather, and did we mention it was 2 am?

The Fandom fire department was on hand, but they'd probably make everyone wait for a while just because they were cranky, too.

Molly had no idea what she was doing up this early, but decided to celebrate by wandering into the common room to get a bowl of cereal and glass of juice before she figured out what to do with the rest of her weekend.

Maybe she'd catch up on her Thaumaturgy, since she'd missed Thursday. Or maybe she wouldn't.

She turned the television on and began to surf lazily, right up until the remote stopped working and she got stuck watching some kind of CID marathon, because obviously she wasn't getting up off the couch to change the channel.

Hannibal no longer felt the need to spew everything single thing that popped into his head and, for that, he counted himself lucky. He thought about what he had said as he went about setting the gym up for cheerleading practice.

It hadn't been too bad, all things considered, but he hated feeling like he didn't have a choice in confessing feelings to someone. Too late for regrets now. At least she hadn't smacked him.

Thanks to KKG and a little ingenuity, the first floor rec room was arranged for a Super Bowl Party. Black, yellow, red and white crepe paper hung from the walls, a good chunk of the seating in the dorms had been dragged into the room for the crowd, and a table was full of assorted snacks guaranteed to destroy arteries and waistlines alike.

Even if you just wanted to see the commercials, it would probably be a fun time.

The power outage and all hadn't done anything to dampen Kaylee's spirits. Sure, she was cold, but hey, that just meant she was in cozy sweats (and a couple layers of them) rather than the wee shorts she'd been sporting last week. And sure, it was a little dim, but they were cheerleaders, dammit! They could practice even if they had to do it by flashlight and lantern! (Which, yeah, Kaylee had set up a few of those, just in case it got too dark.)

There were also mats, and bottled water and snacks. Just because the power was out didn't mean practice was canceled.

Robin had to take several trips to get the equipment in the room. The microphones weren't a problem, it was the actual recording equipment that presented a problem. He hoped Chad could help in setting it up.

After the influx of new student yesterday, Ender had debated whether or not he actually wanted to talk to any of them. Eventually, he settled for the middle option - head into a common room and see if anyone shows up - which suited him fine.

He had a book, and a notepad full of scribbled notes of something that just wasn't quite materializing the way he'd like. And he had a couch to sit on, with a good view of the area, so that he could remain aware of anyone coming in while he was working.

It worked out well that way.

It was definitely a busy day for Turtle, but that was just how she liked it. With a little bit of work and decoration after her last class, she finally had the lobby all set up for the little, teeny-weeny party thing for everyone now that exams were all finished. There were tables set up with all sorts of snacks (all served on Westing Paper Products, of course), as well as drinks, and there were blue and gold streamers and balloons draped from the ceiling and some of the furniture as well. But the real crowning touch was the big, bold, glittering sign:

From the depths of his esoteric chamber crept the Thropp, his uneven gait a suiting punishment for the variety of unnameable and unknowable components which weighted his arms. Like a toll of doom, his shadow slipped sinuously over the counter, the oventop, yes, even the refrigerator as he entered the corner of the common room feared by many and bested by some few, brave souls such as he.

For hours did he toil at this task, sifting and stirring and beating, aye, beating the dough as a man possessed! The cauldron beside him bubbled with exotic potency to bewitch the nose and conjure forth the denizens of this strange architecture. And when his work was complete, the great flaming womb of darkness opened and it's fruit pulled forth, only then did he proclaim his triumph!

"Fresh bread and soup if anyone'd like," he said as he took his portion and retired to a corner of the common room to work out a bit of homework.

Chad was finding out that cooking with your cat was much easier when your cat suddenly had hands and opposable thumbs and could reach the counter all on his own.

And tonight they were making encheladas, with more than enough to spare for anyone else and their humanized pets.

With the Food Network on for noise and inspiration, Brooke was cooking.

No, seriously. There was food in the process of being prepared, and she was all cute in her apron and everything. The food would probably even be edible when it was all done. She'd sort of taken up the whole kitchen with stuff that needed to go into the oven, things that needed to get saran wrapped and put in the fridge, and cookies that were already done and waiting to be eaten and shared because she wasn't very good with self-control. In the deepening dark, a shadow moved. As it emerged into the pool of light underneath an overhead lamp, it resolved into a masked and cloaked figure carrying a very large, heavy bag.

And, of course, munching on a package of Swedish Fish.

Robin had arrived back in town early that morning. His mother had actually considered keeping him home for awhile more, but Robin had insisted he really wanted to come back. In the end his parents had relented. He'd thought getting away from the places that reminded him of Beatrice would help.

It hadn't. He'd spent the day hiding under the rumpled blankets of his bed trying to sleep. Despite the fact that he was physically and emotionally exhausted, he'd failed.

Now he was seated on the edge of the roof staring blankly into the distance. He was far away from Bel's garden, he didn't want to emo on the plants.

And because Brooke's fashion show had been such a hit, along with healthy snacks, Annette also snuck in a cake she'd handwavily picked up from J,GOB that was decorated in school colors, saying  nothing more than GO GREMLINS! But dude, cake. You cannot go wrong with cake. She figured anyone who wanted any, could certainly help themselves, and toss in a thank you to Brooke and their cheer Captain Savannah, for such a great planned out event.

And Annette totally wanted some of those clothes. She needed to talk to Brooke. She wanted the skirt she modeled in. It was cute and flirty.

Friday evening, the gym had turned into quite a different place. There was a stage and runway constructed and lights were at every conceivable position to show off whomever might be up there at any given time.

There was a table set up for taking tickets and another table set up for the purchasing of refreshments.

On the stage, there was a podium draped in blue cloth and when the light hit it, it sparkled ever so slightly.

Instead of the bleachers being pulled out, there were rows upon rows of folding chairs set up through the gym, and they were garnished with bows and streamers in the colors of Fandom High.

Savannah got to the gym early, carrying a duffle bag over one shoulder and the baby Cairo on her hip.

First, she set up a safe area for the spawnlets where they could be safe and within eyesight of any of the other cheerleaders who might be in Professor Skywalker's class. Cairo was gurgling happily as he watched the DVD of "Whatever the Meta" is for "Bring It On" and waving the rubber knife she had found for him. She had thought about asking Johnny to babysit... but had decided that she liked her boyfriend untraumatized, thank you very much.
