Once again, Emma had taken over the sixth floor, setting-up spots for hair and make-up, as well as making sure there were lots of snacks to munch on while people got ready. She was 'helped' in all this by a terrier puppy who was running around, supervising all the details.

After all, so many of the people at Fandom were completely hopeless when it came to things like this. It was her civic duty to try and at least prevent people from embarrassing themselves.

Tony was running a bit late today, so it was Jack who got to the sixth floor first and cleared a space for a rehearsal. He kept glancing out the window at the fog as he did; he still didn't like this one bit.

The cast had all received a handwavey email telling them where and when to meet to rehearse. Jack trusted that the townies involved wouldn't be too heartbroken to miss a week, circumstances being what they were.

"We're on act three this week," Jack announced. "No muffins, but there's probably left over cake from the party last night if you poke around enough. Tony will be here to direct in a moment."

So there was officially a hockey team at Fandom now.  Which meant that George figured he probably ought to watch more hockey.  Or more than jus' the games wit' the Red Wings playin'.

Which would be why George had cookies and hockey on the television.  The Sabres and the Hurricanes.  He kinda like that goalie who was on the Sabres.  Ryan Miller?  Sounded like a good type a lad.

He was also taking notes.  For - the hockey team.  Or possibly doodles about random things involving blonde girls with pretty teeth eyes.

So, Griff was apparently back and in one piece. It was a Christmas miracle or something. Whatever it was, Alex hadn't hung around the room too long to ask because he'd still been pissed that he'd been worried in the first place. This is the shit that happened when he left himself open and he didn't know how much he liked the feeling.

That and a shitload of other things had been wandering up to the roof, cigarette already lit when he stepped out into the mild evening air. It felt like it'd been awhile since he'd actually smoked on the roof what with the colder temperatures and random weird weather events. It was nice to have something familiar.

He slid down against the roof's wall, leaning back against it, feet crossed at the ankle. His Christmas had consisted of a phone call from his mother, which hadn't been fun. After Christmas, he was a little more determined to make count.

And he'd start by smoking. On the roof. For awhile. Yep.

Emma was practically humming as she skipped into the common room, arms laden down with supplies. It was Christmas Eve, her favorite night of the entire year, and she was determined to enjoy it.

She put her favorite Christmas movie on the television, and then set about making herself a large pot of real hot chocolate, with heavy cream and cinnamon, just like Felicia used to make for her. It was one of the few things Emma could cook using a stove, and she enjoyed it.

...Felicia had never added just a biiiit of alcohol, but some traditions were meant to be changed.

But for now she had a blanket, a movie, and her coco, and there was more simmering slowly on the stove if anyone else wanted some. In the spirit of the holiday, Emma might even share...if she liked you.

No one said she was on Santa's 'Nice' list, after all.

Just a few hours ago, the flamingoes had given up on their sudden, magical performance, and retreated to their usual perches for the night. The lights had gone out across Fandom Town, and so no one was awake to witness the start of the gentle tinsel snow. Glittering paper floated down, spreading across the fresh snow, coating it in shimmering colours. It was pretty, it was unnoticed, it was...

The fire alarm cut through the air without warning. The fragile peace of Sunday night shattered into tiny little shards, like a lunatic firing bullets into Christmas decorations with utter abandon. The tinsel? Kept falling. The alarm? Would not stop blaring. The firemen? Were out on the town. It was time for the annual 'strange weather' drill, and no man, woman, or angry pseudopod was going to dissuade them from ushering all the students away from the school.

As they rushed into the school, the tinsel kept falling. Enjoy, kids. We hope you stole a coat upon leaving, or you're going to be plenty cold.

Between this weekend, the Rescue Rangers events of the previous week, and the whatever-the-heck was going around at the play last night, Emma needed a smoke.

Honestly, she could kill off an entire carton repressing the events of last weekend, but she was going to sit on the roof ledge and be good and stick to one or two cigarettes. Maybe three, if she felt like indulging.

Four, if anyone gave her any crap, but Emma wasn't anticipating needing to deal with anything that couldn't be solved with a glare and judicious unethical use of her powers. Or mocking. Mocking solved everything.

Normally Emma would head to the roof when she wanted to escape the ennui of her classmates, but she was still feeling a bit vexed from yesterday's ethics class, and wanted to work it off.

So it was the salle instead, and Emma had her own sword with her instead of one of the practice foils as she worked her footwork and positions. Prime, seconde, tierce...

It was a bit chilly out, but that didn't really deter Emma. She actually sort of liked fall, with the wind and the leaves, especially now that she didn't have to worry about finding a place to sleep once it got cold.

She let her lungs fill with smoke before exhaling, glancing down at the latest assignment for her AP Algebra course. It was nights like this that made her wonder why she'd agreed to the extra work of distance-classes in the first place. She could be out at the bar, but no, she had more homework to do.

Maybe if she was lucky, someone would show up and give her an excuse to ignore her numbers for a bit.

Emma had handwavily sent out an email to her 'dates' on Thursday, detailing her nefarious plans. She'd taken over the sixth floor, setting-up spots for hair and make-up, as well as making sure there were lots of snacks to munch on while they got ready. If other people wandered in wanting help, or just to hang out before the dance, that was fine with her too, but Emma was anticipating needing to fuss over Karla and Beka, and probably Triela and Tara.

This was totally her good deed for the month, possibly for the year. After all, someone had to set a good example.

And she was pretty sure she could get Morton and Rosto to pay for pictures of this. Details. They still had a dance to get ready for.

The roof wasn't really decorated for the pre-parents weekend party, but it wasn't the kind of party you needed to decorate for. There were chips and other snacks; soft drinks, with more interesting selections in a discreet cooler to the side; and a stereo playing music Jack didn't much care for, even though he knew it was popular.

He took a final look over everything, then leaned against the ledge to wait for people who had followed the post-its.

Sookie had gotten phone calls from both her grandmother and Tara earlier about the coming weekend. Gran had said she definitely wouldn't be able to come due to a recent storm taking out some pretty heavy damage on the house, so finances were limited. Tara had said she'd do what she could, but to expect a visitor no matter what. That was...cryptic and weird, but Sookie had kind of dismissed it as Tara being Tara.

In any case, to cheer herself up a little, she'd moved out to the common room and was whipping up a batch of chocolate-chip cookies. Partly because they made her feel better, and partly because she owed them to someone, so it'd be a good idea to have them on hand. She turned the TV onto Squee, because even if she couldn't sing, other kids could, and they'd make her happier. Plus, fake baby storylines were always amazing.

Alex hadn't been down to the deck in awhile, having been spending the majority of his time on the roof. Today, though, he found himself out on the deck, lounging in one of the chairs, feet up and sunglasses on. He thought he'd be able to fall asleep, get some sun but it wasn't happening. Still, that didn't mean he was going to give up his comfortable sprawl on the chair.

Well, he could move his arms to light a cigarette and stick it between his lips so he could blow smoke out lazily. He figured since it was his last free day before he had to go back to class, he deserved a day to just sit and laze. If he got bored enough, he'd brought a book down with him but that wasn't getting used anytime soon.

Going straight from Ino's party to setting up her own was easy, what with them both being on the sixth floor and all. Though Karla did plan on expanding her party a wee bit after Ino's was over--the ballpit thingy was fun!

But anyway, now was the time for the girliest girl party to ever be very girly. Okay, possibly not the girliest (she'd heard about the incredible pinkness of the first sorority meeting and shuddered), but still pretty damn girly. It would be like an antidote for the excessive maleness of yesterday. Just a slumber party for the girls (and Layla, but it wasn't her fault she was stuck like that) with food, makeup, drinks, even some arts and crafts! Mostly because she had to get rid of the supplies she'd bought for making Tahiri's banner for last week. She was going to set up a table in the back of the room where people could paint or color or do whatever.

She called in her art supplies, sending them to the designated table: glue, pens, pencils, crayons, paints, paintbrushes, charcoal, sketchpads, and a giant jar of glitter. Unfortunately, she'd either overestimated the size of the table or underestimated the amount of supplies she'd managed to pick up. Most of her supplies appeared neatly on the table, except for the glitter. That landed on the table's edge, a good half of the jar sticking out over side. It teetered in place for a moment, then decided to take the plunge, flinging itself off the table and onto the heating vents.

Which would have been less of a problem if Karla had properly screwed the lid on the jar after she'd used it last. Upon impact, the lid popped off, and glitter went streaming into the vents. And, of course, caught between the wall and the table, the jar landed on an angle, ensuring that it completely emptied itself. Cue the facepalming. Which nearly turned into headdesking when the most horrible noises started coming from the vents beneath the table. There was a lot Karla didn't know about how ventilation systems worked, but she was fairly certain of one thing: glitter and screeching sounds were probably a bad sign.

By the time she stopped cursing and realized she could probably just vanish the glitter, it had managed to work itself through the ducts and up into the walls. This resulted in a veritable shower of glitter, as it worked its way out of any available duct and vent in the room. It was even raining down from the ceiling. The glitter-shower wasn't heavy enough to be annoying; just a a few flakes here and there at any given moment. It looked...rather cool, actually. They'd have to keep the food covered, but the overall effect was really pretty. Definitely girly.

"I think I'll keep it," she said aloud. "Let the festivities begin!"

Happy-shiny-upbeat music was rolling off the roof this morning and down through the dorms. Layla had taken the time to string up some old Christmas lights that she had handwavily found at Things Reborn.

Food and drink Moddable of course was spread out on a table.

And of course the entire roof was already decorated in flowers, glitter and streamers.

Layla was already out in the middle of the roof bouncing around to the music and having a grand old time of it.

Clearly the island felt there was need for a party. Layla was just rolling around with it.

After handwavily indulging in cigars last night after the broadcast, Emma wasn't craving a smoke right now. Still, she liked the roof, and had taken her AP Algebra textbook up with her to get out of her room for a bit. Hank had somehow arranged for her to take a correspondence class for credit, so that she'd have more 'traditional' classes on her transcripts. She would have preferred statistics, honestly, but algebra wasn't too painful.

And if she kept twirling a cigarette between her fingers as she worked on her assignment, well, she'd need a break soon anyway.

With summer classes over, Alex found himself gravitating to the roof again for a celebration. Okay, he was on the roof to smoke. He knew he could have gone out, gone to the mainland or something but he didn't feel particularly like doing that so he'd stayed local and gone to the roof.

He hopped up onto the edge, feet dangling over the side and pulled out the cigarettes. He had absolutely no idea what he was going to do next week especially with half of the people he talk with off island for one reason or the other. Maybe he'd just go on a bender somewhere. Who knows, if he got really lucky, he'd run into his father in one of those bars. Fun times.

To those transformed "girls" waking up this morning, Layla had arranged a special gift for them. In the first floor lobby (as well as in the common rooms) an arrangement of women's underwear and sports bras in various colors and sizes were laid out on display.

Along with a sign indicating that they were free to take for any male students who were temporarily transformed.

As for Layla herself she was sitting on one of the couches in the lobby to watch the parade of girls leaving the dorms as she perused her new copy of Tiger Beat.

After a week spent hiding recuperating in her room, Emma was starting to go insane. There was only so much sleeping or reading she could do while staring at the same four walls, and the powers-hangover she'd had from her 'adventure' was finally starting to fade enough to make going outside seem appealing.

Pack of Gitanes in-hand, she fled to the roof. The fresh air and sunshine were exactly what she needed after so much time indoors, and a girl had to feed the nicotine addiction sometime.

Emma was beyond thrilled to be back in the dorms. She liked the girls in her cabin just fine, but there was something infinitely more preferable about having just one roommate instead of a parcel of them.

Still, the psionic hustle-and-bustle of having everyone in one building instead of spread out over the cabins felt odd after so many weeks, and Emma found herself escaping to the roof for a cigarette once she'd finished unpacking.

Sometimes the littlest vices were the most soothing ones.

The cabins were mostly quiet. It was incredibly late Friday night--technically very early Saturday morning--and by this time, both the most of the righteous and unrighteous had finally found their beds--well, theirs or someone else's.

There was one major exception to this: a group of girls sneaking out of the Wendy the Werewolf Stalker cabin, preparing to go forth and steal boxers. For great justice, and even greater hilarity.

Karla put the finishing touches on the party preparation. She was glad she'd given herself extra time to set up; she'd had to do everything by hand. Even most basic Craft was beyond her, other than being able to occasionally call in or vanish small items. How the hell did landens manage? The only way she'd finished on time was because a few females kept deliberately vague to keept the option open, but to avoid modding had shown up and helped.

The only way she was ever drinking the suppression brew again was if it were a life-or-death situation. And depending on whose life-or-death it was, Karla might have to give some serious thought to the matter.

Still, it was done. The counters and scattered tables practically groaned with food and drink (the majority from T&C of course!): fruits, veggies, popcorn, chips, candy, various chocolates, soda, water, juice, Gatorade, wine, vodka, rum, various mixers...The furniture in the living room had been pushed aside for maximum space (it would still be a bit cramped, regardless) and the TV had been set up to play whatever movies folks brought along. Extra pillows and blankets were heaped everywhere, both to use as furniture and in case anyone forgot theirs. There were a few sets of hastily-acquired speakers for people to plug their pod-mabobs and empty3 players into for music, and a small section of the kitchen had been set aside off for experimenting with hair dye and make-up.

And in her room was a small pile of sacks and bags of various kind. All the better for stealing boxers with.

The cabin--and Karla--were about as ready as they'd ever be. Now just to wait for folks to show up.

(Posted early for great SP! Girls only, but all girls invited. Please to be waiting for the OCD up!)

It was beautiful outside this evening, and so Emma found herself out by her cabin's campfire; cigarette in one hand as she balanced her notebook on her knees. And really, there was no downside to lighting things on fire.

Emma was not wanting to go far from her cabin tonight, in case something hideously humiliating tried bubbling forth in song. She wanted to keep the option of a strategic retreat open in case it became needed.

Not that the tune she kept singing under her breath as she poked at the fire was high culture, but at least it wasn't some Spice Girls or something equally awful.

Baby look at me
And tell me what you see.
You ain't seen the best of me yet
Give me time, I'll make you forget the rest.
I got more in me, and you can set it free.
I can catch the moon in my hand,
Don't you know who I am?

Remember my name!
I'm gonna live forever.
I'm gonna learn how to fly!
I feel it coming together,
People will see me and die.
I'm gonna make it to heaven,

Baby, remember my name...

Sookie had decided to take advantage of the warm weather while they still had it, and had procured some marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers, as well as some hot dogs and other assorted things that could be roasted over a fire.

She didn't have a whole lot of campfire-y experience, in general, but these were staples of her childhood and seemed like a good idea. Who didn't like chocolate, anyway?

...probably people who were allergic. And vampires, since they didn't eat people food. But still! Most people liked chocolate, anyways!

So Sookie perched herself beside the campfire with plenty of food for others should anyone choose to join her in roasting things over said fire. Her marshmallow was starting to look all nice and lightly tanned.

It was a quiet night. Just after midnight, a steady rain had started falling, drenching the island quickly and showing no sign of slowing. A few hours later, at 2am, the peace of the night was broken when the fire alarm started blaring. It would shrilly blare, stop and then repeat the same shrill blare two seconds later. And it was not going to stop until the all clear was given.

Thus, all the students had to carry their tired selves from their snuggly significant others or their snuggly beds to go wait IN THE RAIN on the dorm lawn. The fire department was making sure all the students were a safe distance away from the school so there were no awnings to hide under. All the students would be stuck out in the steady rain.

The fire department headed into the building but this could take awhile. Enjoy your fire drill, kids!

Karla was nervous. Well, that wasn't much of a surprise. Karla had been nervous all day. But this was a new and different kind of nervous. Now, she was about to host a party, which she had never done, in a world that was still foreign to her, and for many girls she did not know very well. It was enough to unsettle even the strongest nerves.

Still, she though she was ready. Dinah had promised to provide her laptop for movies. Karla and Gabrielle had gone to Turtle's and purchased lots of moddable snacks, sodas, and lots of candy and chocolates. She'd bought make-up, since Dinah had mentioned it's importance in such matters, plenty of blankets and pillows to share, and several other sundries because she wasn't entirely certain what else would be needed, and wished to be prepared. Also, lots of booze, from her private Kaeleeran stash.

Most importantly, there was a small, neatly lettered sign on the door that said 'No Males Please.'

Well, she was as ready as she was ever going to be. "Kiss kiss," she muttered.

Sometime during the day, Sam had come to a sad realization - he hadn't had nearly enough s'mores for the amount of time they'd been out at the cabins. When the evening rolled around and the sun finally went down, he lit the cabin's campfire and set himself up with all the necessary supplies, to cook for himself and for anyone else who sat down.

It wasn't long before he figured out that his marshmallow roasting stick was also good for keeping tiny moose away from the fire. It was kind of amazing how this place still found ways to weird him out, even after all this time.

Once the sun went down, a rather spectacularly large bonfire was lit for the party. No, Merlin was not aware it was now celebrated on the first of May. Calenders change, after all.

There was even a crudely constructed maypole there in case anyone felt the need to dance around it. They did so at their own peril, of course. The mockery that may ensue would probably be great.

Emma was bored. Staying in the cabin for more than a few hours was making her twitch; she'd the close quarters made things too loud, even when she was at her most focused. After being on her own for over a year, and just Hank for company for the last month or so, so many people was making her almost physically ill.

Which is why she was lounging out by the campfire in defiance of the glitter that still occasionally drifted down from the sky. Sunglasses on her face and idly flipping through a magazine while she sucked on a popsicle she'd found somewhere, letting her mind streach and wander about as she relaxed the tight hold she'd been keeping over herself since this morning.

Bored. For a school supposedly full of people with powers, so far, most of them were startlingly dull. Emma was starting to despair.

Maybe some of their thoughts would be more entertaining than the students themselves seemed to be.

There was a proper firepit! Of course this meant Merlin was outdoors, getting the fire going. Yes, even doing it the normal way.

Because he was simply far too excited for things that made sense again! If only a little bit.

Not that he wasn't fond of indoor plumbing, of course...

"Come on then," Merlin grumbled, blowing on the tiny, tiny embers he'd somehow--against all odds--had encouraged to spark to life.

Off on the third floor of Sunset Towers, beside Lake Michigan, in Westingtown, Wisconson, socialite and party planner extrodinair Grace Windsor Wexler might have felt a strange, sudden pang of pride for her youngest daughter.

Turtle had prepared the common room for Tannim's birthday party with a discretely tasteful collection of decorations, a snack spread perfect of any event of this sort, and a great selection of bad, cheesy horror films. Now it was just a matter of people arriving to enjoy it, especially the birthday boy.

Oh, and one other thing, in light of the recent academic of wee-tiny adults. She placed a sign outside the common room:

Tannim Drake's Birthday Party! Here!
Food, fun, and bad horror movies!

These movies are too scary for little kids!

And, being only a two years (and eleven months) shy of twelve herself, she knew that was just asking for the kids to flock. So she hired out the big Mexican kid to act as bouncer.

That would be because there were blankets, pillows, the cushions from the couches and some foam pads set out around the room, forming comfy nests for wee tiny people to curl up in and sleep.
